    Is there any real difference in these bus types for the customer? There a few bits "under the bonnet" (brakes, Mark II chassis, different bodywork builder).

    No. There have been small detail differences in each batch of AV/AX but from a passenger perspective they are practically identical.

    The bodywork is made by the same company, it has just had a few name and corporate changes in the last few years.

    apart from the fleet number, best to look at the dashboard. the AX one is noticeably different. other than that, business as usual.
