I took these pictures rather quickly without much though for composition etc., I realise some cropping and outright editing might be useful.

I only like the first one, great colours, but even that has two rolls of kitchen paper in the centre of it.

How does one take a good picture of something like this?

I'm no expert but most of the pictures seem too 'busy'. My focus is drawn between the door, the tree itself and the windows [including the bog roll] :D

Personally, if I had to try and get a decent shot out of that scene, I'd prob play around with the DOF and pick just one thing that I wanted to focus on.

    Or

Get closer, these are scenes people see everyday and just pass by with no second thought. You have to make it interesting or show them an angle or part that the wouldn't have noticed before.

If you want actually tips? The yellow door seems to go well with the orange leaves. You could try a near macro of a leaf on the left side of the frame with the door out of focus in the backround?

The gate could be a good shot also, lots of leaves are prob packed up on the inside. Focus on that with the door and steps out of focus in the backround.

    Hope this helps

Aye, a bit too busy. Get closer, then get down on the ground. Go for completly different and new angles :)

And then play with your curves in photoshop.

Just an idea, but try getting under the tree and point the camera to the sky ...

Its OK, after the weekend's weather there isn't many leaves left. :(

Annoying is'nt it? The colours peak and then a gale blows through and they're all gone for another year.
