GamePad not working within games....

    my controller is working and registering with windows, i.e. when i open up Control Panel/Game Controllers i see the device installed and i can test that it functions, which it does, the problem lies, when i enter a game, eg Hitman 2, and attempt to use the controller, it dont work, so the i tried to redefine the controls for the game, but the buttons of the controller just aint doing anything.... am i missing something.

    Most pc games dont support controllers with the exception of some of the sports games or ones ported from consoles, afaik hitman 2 doesnt support controllers.

    Why is this exactly? Do most people use the keyboard for games? I have a gamepad and I play a few sports games and most of them work with it.

    I tried a few games with the keyboard with endless difficulty and it put me off the game. Why do game manufacturers for the pc not implement controllers?
