Booing at gigs????

I was at Bruce Springsteen last night and was amazed to hear assholes booing for no apparent reason. It was only a small minority but was noticable nonetheless. The funny thing is that the same thing happened at another (un-namable) gig I was at a couple of months ago. Is this some retarded new trend that I'm not aware of? Why would these fυcktards pay good money to go to a gig just to boo?

A friend of mine who was at the gig says "they were going broooooooooooooooooooce"

Yep, as I was just saying! I thought they were booing at first but they were actually chanting his name. Its what they do. Bit unfortunate for the dvd and all but I'm sure he himself knew they weren't booing

Yeah, they are saying "Bruuuuuuuceeee" indeed. Sounds like booing but I'm sure the boss knows otherwise. It's been going on for years!

    Are saying "Boo" or "Boo-urns"?

Hmm. I did hear guys shout "Bruce" alright, but I know I also definitely heard people booing. Some were quite close and I could hear them clearly.

Are you actually sure or are you just tryin to cover your ass now!? ;) Because the kind of people who go to Bruce Springsteen gigs do not boo! And especially not that gig, it was bleedin amazin!

Maybe people were jokingly booing trying to make it sound like Bruuuuce if you know what I mean. People who go to sold out gigs don't tend to boo the artist they either queued up really early for or paid more than asking price to get to;)

Oh they most definitely do because they most definitely were at the aforementioned "unnamed" gig.

But was the aforementioned unnamed gig worthy of booing!? Are you even allowed to answer yes or no

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,347 ✭✭✭daiixi

Was definitely not worthy of booing.

It's the Brooooooooooooooce chant. Happens all the time.

Also means that even if he was to get booed he wouldn't know ;)

I remember the booing at Congealed Oyster-Dirt Fruit Preservative and it was mostly because of some people shouting the Keyboardists name which sounds like Boo while the others were idiots and assumed there was something happening they should be booing and joined in. People are sheep is ultimately the answer.

*schmack* if this aforementioned "unnamed gig" was a certain Seattle band then they most definately were not booing but shouting "BOOOOOooooooooom"

    Word

    I was saying boo-urns...

as has been noted, its the 'Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce' chant - go back to the Live 75-85 collection and you'll hear it all the way through, especially in the stadium concerts towards the end

Anybody who boo's this man deserves to be shot, so I dont think thats what was happening here.

I disagree, anyone who'd spend money to go see him deserves to have their money taken. That being said, I'd never boo a band.

John you've let me down. I recall seeing some of the music you like and some bands were similar to my taste. Bruce has some great songs and puts on a great show.

Was at a gig a while back. A certain band was booed. Godsmack, Children of Bodom, Slayer and the first band weren't, tho. Forget the band that was booed, but I think they were pretty hopeless (considering that the area where everyone was drinking/smoking was packed when they were playing).

People, actually still say "Boo" these days?

I find a well timed "You Suck!" or "Fvck off back home!" or "Get off the stage!" is much more effective, most of the time used on incredibly bad opening acts. It was great when everyone started doing it to Funeral For A Friend who opened for Iron Maiden whenever the hell it was, and everyone started chanting Maiden when they were tryin to play and continually heckled them quite profusely, haha they wern't happy at all! well I suppose they are Emo so they like being unhappy! It helps them write songs while they cut themselves (i love stereotypes!)

I think the chances of someone paying all that money to go to the show and then booing are incredibly slim.

I was at the gig with a load of mates. we (as we have done in previous springsteen concerts) were shouting 'bruuuuuuuuuuce' quite a bit. I did notice a few old fogies and obvious first timers who didnt have a clue and thought we were booing.

Concert was brilliant altough I thought he mightve played a little while longer. 2/3 more songs.

    BRUUUUUUUU

    CE

    :D

can't speak for the Springsteen gig's - but I go to a lot of gigs, different styles of music etc........and there's definitely been an increase in the amount of tossers at gigs in Dublin......

people booing, heckling bands, shouting abuse for no apparent reason.......and it's really starting to get on my tits - nearly as bad as people beside you having a shouting conversation while the main band is on.....

anyway, it's definitely happening.......I don't understand why people go to gigs and do it, maybe it's just drunk people that are getting in free, certainly happened at the <snip> - just a couple of guys shouting abuse about everything and for no good reason...

Totally agree. I've been at loads of gigs where the bands are called 'useless f***ers' 'wa***rs' 'c***s' and whatever the hell else until they make it on stage and then it's hero worship. I have always wondered why they verbally abuse people they've paid to see, especially when they love them so much!

The sheep thing plays a factor too, very likely people heard 'Bruuucce', didn't get it, and joined in booing for no apparent reason. Muppets!!!!!

Having said that, it was worth putting up with one person in front of me when Ian Brown supported the Manic Street Preachers - when he shouted up that Mr. Brown was s**te, he leaped off the stage and tried to dive into the crowd at him, spitting and everything. There were 3 bouncers holding him in front of the railings - more bands should react like that!!

We'll have to agree to disagree here. I cannot stand him.

Fair enough, everyone has their own individual tastes:)

I do suggest you try and listen to a bit more of his material if you haven't already. There are some not so popular tracks that are pretty good.

Agh how can anyone say they can't stand him!! Yeah you can dislike him but I mean the man has some fantastic songs!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,630 ✭✭✭gline

booing at gigs is pretty lame, you paid to see the show so why would you boo at the bands and ruin it for everyone else. if you dont like one of the bands playing go get a drink at the bar or leave

Just a matter of opinion, I'm sure most people couldn't stand the majority of music I listen to so it all balances out :)
