Internet Certificates/Trusted Sites

    Sorry, I know this is probably the wrong forum, but I can't find a general forum for the internet.

    I find that when I'm on the internet a pop-up comes up for a lot of the sites I go to. It says something like;

    "You are leaving a secure connection. Information you send and receive will therefore be left open...."

    Something like that. And once clicking on 'more information' I get an idea of what they're talking about. In the 'more information' it mentions it might be unsafe to enter credit card details, and passwords and such.

    I find it surprising, therefore, that this popup came up when I went to eBay!!! Should I ignore the popup on all occasions, or is it generally unsafe?

    Sorry if this is a weird thread....

    this occurs when you go from a https:// to a http:// site. It doesnt mean the destination site is in some way dodgy, its just saying if you were directed there to enter in info like credit cards and stuff that its no longer encrypted, just in case you thought it was going to be.
