COOL! :D Fair play to ye. Make sure he knows to be smart about it and not sell it to kids, or else he may end up in trouble about it and we may end up with no sport :(

Thats great news. I have informed Duffys in Galway of the same and Brian said he would look into it. I can tell him now that Scully's in Athlone are getting into it so maybe that will force him to keep up with the trend.

Scope let us know when he gets the stuff in. A local supplier for consumables, gas and ammo would be great.:)

He will be smart about it dave dont worry about that, I stand corrected on that "pile of weapons" bit .hes ordered a few just to see what their like 1st but it wont be long before bigger shipments are made methinks :)

will he be getting anything substacial in for example the star para saw? or will he take orders? the one i was going to look at is now sold and i didnt get to go to pred as the airsoftireland website lost about 3weeks activity so my account was deleted along with the contact number of the guy i was buying it from.

    That's good to hear Scope.

Spitfire, I doubt the fella is at the stage yet -- he's just learning about it for the moment. Maybe in the future :)

well that one was the only one ive seen at all, id say its fairly rare one comes up second hand, you would want to be fairly devoted to the gun to buy it.
Believe it or not the 500 doesnt sound to bad......if ya say it fast mid sentence and keep talking.
As for it as a first gun, well, my moto is
"Start big, and pick on the little guy."

    Thank god. .

my wallet said that too. i think buying that gun would have been like when nissan introduced the skyline to group b racing, it just killed everything so the sport ended. that gun would be too powerful to fight against.

something about the lack of finesse to those guns that would really turn me off ;)

a bit too "point and spray" for my liking

cant beat a bit of mindless rampage to creleave a bit of tension in the shoulders after the softly softly picking of sniping.

you might wanna start looking for a cheap bb retailer!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

ive noticed that most of the bb's pictured with the guns are white, is there a reason for this or will the usual yellow bbs fit too as i have 1000's of those.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

I don't think the colour makes a difference. I got about 100 free white ones with the gun, and bought 4000 which also happen to be white. But all the ones I've had before this are blue or yellow.

I think it's just at the discretion of the producer.

sorry for the quadruple post, this is just a very VERY important point to make.

plus, never EVER EVER EVER reuse bbs.

but im sure you already knew that.
seriously like. if you wanna make your AEG last more then 4 months.

i bet this'll stick in your head now.

Ahh come on, NEVER reuse BBs? Of course don't use the ones that have been broken in half or dented, but I would think that the BB manufacturers just tell you not to use them at all because it means you buy more!

i wouldnt reuse bbs anyway just because i couldnt be arsed picking them all up.

okay...dave...do you want me to shout NEVER at you another 30 times? lolol

when you fire a bb, it gets deformed in the air. it gets deformed when it hits something. it picks up dirt.

put that in your expensive finely tuned AEG and im telling you, the dirt will fuk up your mechbox (even small dirt you cant really see, build up over time)the fact that aegs, especially yours and mine have such a high rate of fire, that deformed bbs, even slightly, flying through it repeatidly really can mess it up quick..

as someone said to be before, bbs are really like used cleanex. theyre worthless. spending 20 or 30 a month on them is nothing when compared to having to buy a new AEG.

I spoke with Brian in Duffys today. His outlook on it is that he is going to go to the local Super and hash out a few bits with him. He does want to start selling them and is aware of the change in law but he does not for see starting to sell them until the new year if all goes well.

How about if you use a collection box. I made a box reinforced with 3 layers of cardboard. I can clip targets onto it and the box will collect the BB's for me.:D

Even a BB that looks perfect after being fired can have hairline fractures that you can't see, if it shatters in the barrel when you fire you've got problems. I wouldn't recycle BB's unless I one day got tired of having an AEG with a mechbox that worked LOL :D

by all means use a catcher to minimize the cleanup and reuse in crappy guns. maybe even in a cheap bolt action rifle as they only fire one at a time (still not recommended though) but seriously. in your AEG? that's madness. it'll be broken quite soon if you keep doing that

    Can you not hear us?

    DONT REUSE ANY BBS!!

i know its like people just dont want to listen. seriously. bbs are totally inexpensive. thats the great thing about this sport. you only have to spend pennies on ammunition. 6000 bottle only costs twelve pounds and last a good while. why risk ruining your gun? in the long run your wallet will be damaged a hell of a lot more.

I got 500 bb's during the summer, and I'm still using the same ones now, been recycled a number of times by now ;).

I think telling people NOT to reuse bb's is a bit harsh, it depends on whether they are using a padded target trap (like I am, which is fine, there is NO damage done to them), or hopping them off a wall/fence, in which case it'd be a bit dodgy. Also depends on what type of gun they are using, ie a bb breaking in a bolt action rifle isnt going to cause near as much damage as being broke in a AEG gear box.

And most important.....its there own choice, if they want to make s$%^e of there aeg then its there problem, they have been warned (god knows they've been warned!)

actually about 20 minutes ago im after throwing out about 1000 spent bbs. i have a sheet at the top of my garden that i let them all gather in.

whether you use them in a padded trap or hop them off a wall doesnt really matter. bbs deform in flight.

minor deformities that the eye can not see. like the actual spherical shape being altered. this will scratch and damage the inner barrel.if one does this, imagine what 15 a second in a row would do? not to mention cause jams. i really think you need to read some of the horror stories ive seen online about people reusing them. seriously, dont be posting saying stuff like that. AEGs breaking down of their own accord is one thing. but due to carelessness? come on man! its just silly. and for the sake of simply just buying a few more bbs? the money you are saving now is just going to be spent ten fold when you have to buy a new gun.

    do...you...not...see...that?

I honestly cant see how a bb could deform that much, so as to damage a barrell when being fired to 20-40m at approx 300fps and being stopped by a loose net. I'm not being smart, but I see no problem re-using them in MY gun, and if someone else feels they want to reuse them let them, its there gun, there money, there problem, like I said, they've had enough warning!

(by the way, I know nothing of the workings of an AEG, my comments were based on bolt action weapons)

well what are you going to do at a skirmish? fire your 500 and then run around the site trying to pick them all up?

sorry, that WAS a bit smart. funny though :D

okay well fair enough. i could compare it to reusing toilet paper. but i wont go on.
its just something you dont do. if you want to reuse them, fair enough. but dont post up online that its somehow okay to reuse as someone might take what you said, think "fair enough", reuse all their bbs and two months later have a fuked up mechbox.

i can advise about certain things, but one thing i do NOT have a clue about is how to fix mechboxes.
actually im tempted to buy one and take it apart just to see the mechanics. but thats another topic altogether ;)

Reduce, re-use, recycle :D .....I'm doing design, so we're though to conserve........so, its an idea :p:D

I hear what you're saying, I'd still be skeptical though, but listen people DONT RE-USE BB's in your airsoft weapons..........if you do, and damage your gun, its YOUR FAULT!!

    Tha' should dooooooo it! ;)

wait wtf, this thread is about a retailer selling airsoft in Athlone.

    *jumps back on topic*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,319 ✭✭✭Miscreant

Retailers in Athlone and Galway eh? Sounds great. I usually pass through both counties on a regular basis. Thinking of getting a GBB (Mariu P226) but the only thing putting me off at the moment is the lack of availibility of the proper gas. I could order the gas from Wolf but they charge €48 for postage so that is a bit steep. I would say that by next summer there will be a few places around the country selling Airsoft gear and weapons. As long as they are responsible about who they are selling to then cool.....

if you want cheap postage on gas check out www.firesupport.co.uk

i bought a bottle of gas, bbs and some silicone oil from them a while back. i think the postage was under ten pounds.

bottle of gas may be a fiver to post.
