What materials are best for warmth

I'm trying to make sure I'll keep warm this winter :D but I know nothing about materials.

Is lambs wool good for keeping you warm? I've seen a couple of items that are "100% lambs wool" but I wanna stay toasty warm so I'd like to know if thats a good material for keeping in heat.

I'm under the impression that I should stay away from things that are acrylic or polyster or something..but really I'm clueless!

Natural materials such as cotton, silk and wool are the best for keeping you warm as they allow ventilation and they trap the warm air against your body (or something like that I'm sure I'll be corrected by someone who knows it exactly)

The unnatural fibres aren't as good.

I find soft wool stuff (like lamb's wool) is lovely and cosy to wear esp if you wear it over a cotton or silk vest.

Depends on what item of clothing you're talking about surely. Goretex or Raso Gommato for coats...
