    Looks rubbish to me...
its an underpowered laptop from what i can see. Its not good enough for games anyway.

Whats the story here - somebody has a picture of a great gaming orientated laptop, yet the specs on the website list the gpu as a Radeon X200, a pretty weak integrated card that will not run most new games at all?

Just noticed that's from an Italian website. thats not the same laptop. If the one with the Go7600 arrives here it's got to be pretty expensive though with that kind of hardware, not exactly for the budget user trying to find a cheap deal.

The Aldi machine is pretty poor though alright. Not a bargin at all by any means.

Dang thought it was the same machine :(

If you wern't into games it'd be a nice box for d'ol dvd's like , and wordprocessing -

But everything else seems to be the same (though warranty is only 24 months) , any chance it's an upgradeable video card - or have they stripped it down ??

Anyone have an idea of the price for the Lidl laptop on the 4th Dec yet ????

I wouldn't be worried about screen size, I'd prefer a 15" screen to a 17"screen, I find them very big and bulky.

Check out the Dell Inspiron 1501 from 579 euro. You don't get the softwere but its twice as powerful as the Aldi one.

Who wants gay Vista anyway ........ :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,131 ✭✭✭subway

vista will easily run on that,
i have it running on 1 gig of ram with an intel intergrated graphics card.
unfortunately youll be paying for it, as theres no mention of a free vista upgrade in the ad.

lidl latop looks decent but the size of it would put me off.

3 years warranty is good tho.

It says "from 579". As soon as you choose any reasonable config, the price goes way up I tend to find.

I agree the Lidl laptop appears spectacularly over priced, but you are not comparing like-with-like.

The Lidl model has a bigger screen, for starters, and it has a TV-tuner card with FM radio, among other things. Certainly not worth the price differential, though.

The price is way too much, I don't know what Lidl are thinking, they're computer products get more expensive with every new offer. A while ago they were offering a desktop PC at much more than the current market prices. I wonder if demand is greater because it's available in the shop- so no credit card is needed or delivery required. If so people are paying a high price for those "advantages".

I think it is more down to consumer ignorance - "well if it costs that much, it must be good".

    Silly, silly, silly.

    and the inverse -
"well if lidl are selling it, then it must be cheap"
