Carlow Thaiboxing is in Bagenalstown on Mons and Weds from 9:30-11:30 [they usually stay later] They are in Muine Bheag [I think thats how its spelled] Community Centre. East to find once you make the turn off from the Carlow Road.

How the training in Singe Street these days? Thats Joe Canning. It was Mugendo back then too.

I used to train there 12 years ago 94 I think we started, when it just started and there was 6 of us on a good night. I think Mick is running it now, he used to be there back then too. it slowly grew from there.

Is the sparring still hard contact? or has that changed?
Joe used to love brutalizing us, he was real old skool, maybe he mellowed in old age!

Back then it was heavy going some nights. The odd KO, and head ringing going to work the next morning.

Muay Thai will be a good move for you. I changed over to it myself about well over 18 months ago. I wish I had of gotten involved in Muay Thai alot earlier! its great training, no BS involved.

Training is still going strong in Synge St. Joe and Paula are the main trainers. could be anwhere between 10 and 30 at training. still hard sparring but they split the class now for sparring so that anyone who just wants to do bag work or pads can do that instead. very sorry to be leaving the club coz really enjoyed my time there

yeah its a good club alright. I had a good few years there. then I went over to Joes brother George at www.worldmugendouniversity.com who has a very different way of teaching. check out the site, you will see some real old photos of Joe and crew in the 70s and 80s training.
