Hey guys, the below is a link to an interview with GSP on T-Nation, the internet presence of one of GSP's sponsors, Biotest. It centers around the upcoming Hughes Fight, talks about his fight with Penn and also touches on some childhood stuff and a bit of training as well.

Good article, I think GSP is a class-act. One thing that intrigued me when I read it last night though was that he takes a Spike tablet before his fights - do any of you know anything about what this stuff is and what it does? Reading t-nation a lot of those guys seem to take it.

I'll be shouting for GSP big time at the weekend but I don't know if he'll beat Matt. Hughes is a gladiator (and his entrance into the ring is the the best in the UFC IMO) but he really gets under the skin of his opponents and needles them - good psychology and he has my respect, but this one time I'd love to see the Canadian shut him up.

    Come on GSP !!

Spike is an energy tablet, containing a propprietary thiamine disulfide ( di-2methylpropionate) and caffeine. I actually have a bottle of it in my training bag as we speak, but I need to warn you that it does contain something that is considered to be a "medicine" in Ireland, and so can and most likely will be intercepted by customer and destroyed should you try and import in into this country.

Now then, does it work? It will not give you a mad raging buzz, but I have found that it does assist in keeping my energy levels at a constant high level during training. I can see why GSP would take one just before a fight as being a small tablet it would no cause any discomfort in the gut and does provide a nice energy buzz.

However, as stated it does contain something the Irish Government has decided we should have to pay a chemist for.

The only time i ever use it is when i am severly dragging after a particular vicious day at work. The whole basis of the product, as far as i am aware is that it is a beta-2 agonist, and while the manufacturer claims that extended us will now have any effect and not cause down regulation of beta-2 receptors i prefer to just use it only when i need to.

For example, i bought a 50 capsule bottle from T-Nation last March, and i still have about 2 thirds of it left. To be honest i am also being sparing as i know it will be very difficult to get more into the country. :)

If i find an avenue to get some more i will keep you in mind.
