I'm thinking about organising a trip with 2 of my friends to Stockholm. I'm just looking for advice from anyone who's visited the city.whats the nightlife like?is it very expensive and are the people friendly etc.

    any advice is much appreciated.

I visited Stockholm last year. I stayed in the University town outside it called Uppsala. But we spent time in the city too.

Interestingly the three areas that you mentioned would not be the fortes of the city:
The nightlife does not seem to be kicking but if you know where you're going I'm sure you'll find some fun bars/clubs. I'd recommend booking The Ice Bar as soon as (or before) you get there. Such a novelty. If you don't get a booking there is a mini version of it called The Ice Gallery (no vodka though!)

It is an expensive city. I couldn't believe how fast I was going through my Kroner. Everything you buy is just dearer than home.
Lastly, I would not describe the people as friendly. From my experience they keep to themselves. I was overwhelmed by the calmness of the place (especially the university town). Particularly at night I felt like we were the only ones out and about. The entire country runs at a slower pace than Ireland and it could be bordering on boring. Depends on how you look at it.

All that said, I would recommend visiting Stockholm for a cultural experience and especially if it's in winter, it's a novelty being there in the snow.
But if you're looking for the craic on a weekend away I would avoid it.

thanks mrsmagoo, you kind of confirmed my original reservations about the city.it would be three lads going away for good nightlife and the craic so i think its best i look elsewhere.I'm open to suggestion at the moment so if anyone has any ideas.i just want to avoid the usual (what have become) chavy destinations like prague and amsterdam and the like

Well if you consider chavvy places you can't get swedish penis enlargers than I suppose Prague is not for you. Otherwise your just being stupid and a little gay
