a hospital drama. But it's not to be serial based like 24.
The makers of hit thriller series 24 are set to take the real time format into the world of the hospital drama. Unlike the serial format of 24 the new show, entitled Call, will be made up of stand alone episodes.
The Hollywood Reporter quoted writer Dave Hemingson as saying it will swing from intense to character driven comedy in the vein of the 1970s series MASH.
The idea, from 24 creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran, has been taken on by broadcaster ABC.
Hemsingon, who wrote 20th Century Fox TV's Kitchen Confidential, was brought in to help develop the show.
"We will be toggling between tones and will hopefully create something that is compelling and humorous," Hemingson said.
There have so far been five series of 24, each of which charts an action packed day in the life of federal agent Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland.
