    have norton security 2006 on my laptop, and i have to turn it off to enter certain sites. have tried tweaking it but no joy,

    help please

    I think you'll need to give more information that if you expect help.
    Nortons ad blocking sometimes interfers with the content deliveried so maybe you should turn that off or maybe just exclude some of the domains etc it blocks.

    You really need to explain the nature of your problem in more detail.

    sorry for the short details but it really isnt very detailed!

    basically, when i open internet it works fine on certain sites. sites that require a username and password wont work thoug. they load and some even accept my log on details but those ones wont allow me to do anything when i get in. this site included.

    for example on here it accepts username details and weclomes me. then when i try to communicate with people on here, after i click their contact icon, it boots me out saying i need to log on.

    when i go onto another it says that is blocked because of cookies. i have put internet options to allow cookies but to no joy.

    on you tube, pages load but the videos dont...

    only when i turn OFF my security package does everything work...perfectly

    Sounds too me that your browser (firefox, IE?) is configured to block web advertising and only accept cookie from certain sites. You also need to allow images from remote sites.

    The images visible on X site might actually be hosted on a different site so are blocked if you have configured the browser to only load images from the particular site itself.
