You can attribute that to
#1 the ratings system is flawed
#2 Sky One has taken a good number of people away from RTE2
#3 Its on numerous times during the week
#4 Lost isn;t going to gain as many new fans now as before as the stroytelling is so dense.

My only worry is that RTe might give up on the show when something buzz worthy and shiny comes alone.

Its important to note that it is still a watercooler show and its ratingsare holding steady and are comparable to late season 2 episodes early season 1 episodes.

Well we are still talking about it in my work!

I tease them on Friday morning having watched it on Thursday night. They were all primed for a good episode this week with Hurley's shenanigans.

Then on Monday, the Sky One heads join the discussion, even if it is just to bitch about the bad episodes. Because most people in Dublin are on NTL, they have Sky One so a lot of people have seen it on Monday.

Then on Tuesday we can all talk freely about it and the ones that don't watch it ask can we talk about something else cos they are sick of hearing about Lost!

And on Friday it all starts all over again.

Actually if you look at it, a lot of episodes in season 1 averaged in 200's, very few episodes have ever gotten 400,000. Season 2 seem to average a lot in the 300s and so far season 3 is on border of 200 and 300 for average ratings so it has gained numbers in comparison to season 1 but lost a few since season 2.

The show has always been up and down but the sKy factor has been evident. It just depends when people watch it. The show usually slumps mid season if you look bacjk at season one and two.

RTE better hope ABC schedule Lost on a Monday or tuesday next January so they can show it within the same week to avoid Sky's competition as I believe Sky wouldn't remove Lost from Sunday as Sunday is their most important night of the week.

interesting figures, there is still a huge difference in the average over the last few (best of the season) episodes as compared to episodes 2-5 (about 100,000 lower). I would have expected the audience to be solidly building after the excellent episodes of the past few weeks.

It has a lot to do with a lot of people watching on Sky One. I admit I do it as well as al ot of my friends and family. Remember RTe showed the first 6 episodes of season 3 before SKy One.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the poor figures for the season finale or for the late part of the season as a whole.

The majority of my co-workers download the episodes to watch in their own time. The best policy seems to be to save up about 3 or 4 & watch them over one night with a good bottle or 2 of red.

It's the nature of the show that affects the ratings in this way.
I myself will probably opt for this policy next Feb.

Hrrrm not as many 400,000+ ratings as season 1 and 2, i dunno if its like this in the us and uk, Lost could be in trouble.
