Following on from the indie board, are there any metal releases people are looking forward to next year?

I'd love to see another necrophagist release, but that isn't very likely. Perhaps Opeth will provide another stroke of genius

I don't know if there's really anything I'm looking forward to, because I'm still playing catch-up with a lot of CDs that were released in the past year or so.

JEW are working on an album right now. A new White Stripes album will prob be out this year, although i wouldn't bet against another Raconteurs album either.

Smashing Pumpkins, thats it tbh. Unless Nevermore get another record out. Axl Rose can feck right off with Chinese Democracy. What a waster.

Smashing pumpkins was the only one I knew of. Strangely I hadnt heard about the new foos one or NIN one but them as well! Qotsa would be nice and that new Bloc Party album.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 547 ✭✭✭Devious

Whaaa? New NIN album? This true? First I'v heard of it! He only released one last year so I thought it would be 2019 before his next one?!

    Brutal Truth.

And I hope that Athiest go back on their word and DO release a new album...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,822 ✭✭✭Morf

necrophagist, meshuggah, spiral architect (if it ever comes out)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 100 ✭✭billsteersnose

Yeah... What's the story with Meshuggah? Are they recording at the moment or what? I loved the 'I' ep. Catch 33 didn't really do anything for me though. I'll probably get my ass kikcked for saying this, I felt that they were just trying to push the whole repetitive drumloop thing as far as they could. It was almost a little bit tongue in cheek...
I'm a big fan so hopefully the next one will be deadly.

I gotta say for starters that 2006 was a rather satisfying year for me personally as the year saw some great metal releases by old-time heavyweights.

For 2007, I'm anxiously awaiting Megadeth's 'United Abominations', rumoured new Obituary, Malevolent Creation releases. And other DM releases are only to be expected and I'll definitely have a few on my must-have A-list. Then I anticipate an all-new reunion studio effort from Anthrax with Belladonna.

And finally, a crowning glory of sorts for me personally. I'm praying endlessly for the DLR-VH reunion to happen for real this time and a rollicking new CVH release in 2007. I can't possibly ask for more in the year ahead. Here's hoping!!

i'll add the new Explosions in the sky record to my list . . .

new chirs cornell.........you know my name =SONG OF THE YEAR!

It would be nice to hear something new from Ulrich Schnauss.

Other than that I would say Queens Of The Stoneage, Rammstein (an actual new album).

For reasons I wont get into I hope Audioslave never release another album and I hope Chris Cornell just gives up.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
new chirs cornell.........you know my name =SONG OF THE YEAR!

I just had a listen to it, its one of the worst Cornell songs I have ever heard imo.

By the way Soundgarden are my favourite band and I'm a huge fan of Cornells stuff bar his solo album and as a result of the new album pretty much all the Audioslave stuff.

Smashing Pumpkins, Biffy Clyro, Yourcodenameis:milo, Oceansize and 65daysofstatic are the names that immediately jump to mind for me. QOTSA would be nice too, and I'll be interested to see what a NIN record that didn't take a gazillion years to make sounds like.

+1 on both counts. Rush is definetly a band I'd like to see live once in my lifetime, along with Dream Theater.
