You have to use the audio connectors from your composite cable.

Where did you get the component cable?

Anyone know anywhere on/offline that has a decent selection of accessories?

Is there much difference with component cables?

I have to admit, I really didn't notice THAT MUCH of a difference going from standard composite cables to a good quality scart cable.

Also, what to component cables actually look like, as I don't think I've even seen a TV with anything other than RF, composite, scart and s-video connections!

It would look like that but just as a socket on the back of your TV.

Component cables are like normal composite cables, except there's more of them. There are 3 cables just for video (green, blue and red) and the usual 2 for audio. With composite - you have one video cable and two audio.

There should be a much better picture quality compared to RGB Scart, because component can display higher resolution - progressive scan. On the gamecube it will be 480p - it should be a lot sharper.

    Hi guys

Would you need a special TV to use these cables? Nintendo are selling one for the Wii in line with the release of the console.

I want to preorder it as I've read on numerous sites that it makes a massive difference to the picture quality.

    Cheers
    Mike
Edit: it seems as though these cables are only beneficial to those of us who are lucky enough to have HDTV televisions. Is this correct?

I think it works if your TV supports progressive scan, not nessecarily a HDTV. Would I be right in saying that? I've not yet used a TV with anything more than scart or composite. (RF doesnt even count, anyone hookin a console to a TV by RF needs slaps!)

strictly speaking 480p is EDTV not HDTV - "Enhanced Definition".
