How to get to Tuam

    Hi,
I might have to get to Tuam tomorrow, now there's a bus but it takes about 7 hours as opposed to a train that goes to Galway in less than 3 (plus say an hour to get to the Train station). The thing is I don't know what my options to get to Tuam would be by taking the train to Galway and how long it would take to do so.

I'm coming from Bray so it would also take me an hour or so to get to Hueston for the train.

Time is an important factor as I have to make it to a garage, buy a van and drive back home so don't want to be travelling too long or I'll be wrecked driving home which wont be good.

    Any help would be appreciated:)

7 hours by bus? who ever told you that was taking the piss.

7.00 Galway bus to Athlone, arr Athlone 08.55.
09.15 from Athlone, Tuam arr 10.30.

If you want to leave later there is no direct bus, you'd have to go via Galway.

If you put in 1100 and click submit, you'll see where it says 7hours, that's from Bray to Tuam, not from Galway to Tuam.:o

The time I gave above was a 7.00 departure from Dublin.

That journey planner only gives BusEireann departures so is no good for Bray-Dublin.

Ah ok, what bus company does the journey you mention above? Would it take the same time at say 11.30? I wont know if I have to go until about 10.30 tomorrow morning so that's why I can't really plan anything.

    Bus Eireann.

They only do 2 quick services from Dublin via Athlone, 07.00 and 16.00. Otherwise you will have to go via Galway.

The 12.00 Bus from Dublin gets to Galway at 15.40. 16.00 from Galway gets you to Tuam at 16.35.

    Here are the timetables anyway.

    Dublin-Athlone-Tuam

    Dublin-Galway

    Galway-Tuam

    Rail Dublin-Galway

Have a look at the Sligo Galway bus times. This bus stops in Tuam, also the timing might be better to get the train to Sligo, about 3 hours and the bus to Tuam about 2 hours.

Hey City link is great comfy seats etc. used to use it when I was in college in Galway all the time.

Depart Dublin outside Pearce station at 12am arrive Galway 3.15pm http://www.citylink.ie/timetable-galw2dubl.htm

Then get the 3.25 from the bus station at galway train station (2 min from the drop off) your in Tuam for 4.05 U might need to buy a ticket from bus eireann on line so you dont have to q!!

It might make much more sense to get the train to Claremorris than Sligo. :D
