I was wondering is it possible to play a file (eg film) on my computer and have the signal sent to my T.V.. Is there a device that would allow me to do this. Preferable wireless if not then using a wire Cheers

Yes. There are few under the DLink brand name (They call 'em MediaLounge), and if you own a Sony VAIO with VAIO Media (2.5+ ?) you can get a VAIO Network Media (Receiver).
I'll stand by my prediction made some time ago: the price will drop dramatically by next March. There are usually a few available on eBay.

I have a Philips Streamium Sl300. Streams music photos and video wirelessly from my PC.
Can be a bit of a pain to set up but once working it's pretty good.
