Saw the same one in Currys today for €99 as well, the ability to play Divx off a USB key is nice, especially if you managed to snag one of the 4 GB Viking Ativa drives the other day :D .

i have the Philips DVD Player 5960 for a few months , will play most av files you throw at it , the drawbacks are the remote is really BAD , weak ir signal , and the unit crashes every now and then when its loading a disc and you have to pull the plug to get it going again

I wonder would the USB 1.1 speed be a problem when playing back movies from an external source? Can anyone confirm/deny?

Apparently plays divx/xvid files no problem from the USB input, either flash drive or HD (formatted to FAT32).

Recommended on the Divx home page: http://www.divx.com/

    bought it...
Yeah, the remote is pretty flimsey, has basic functions, but works fine
There's been no crashes so far :)
hooked up my 60GB ipod via the USB port and it's played all the divx files I've thrown at it, and doesn't seem to drain the ipod battery.

    Fast

usb 1.1 is 12 mbits while SD movies are 2mbits max and HD can be up to 16mbits

i have the same one, its really easy to region crack it..

    1. Turn on the unit
    2. Open the loading tray
    3. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
    4. Navigate to the "Preferences" page using the right arrow key
    5. Enter 138931
    6. You will now see the current region code displayed
    7. Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the region required or "0" for all regions
    8. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
    9. Press "OK" on the remote

This player doesn't play HD clips for me, just upscales DVD to 720p/1080i. Was in Harveys today, a lot of tags on everything saying marked down from much higher prices. These signs are just for show, with most of the marked down from prices being the RRP. Would have been a huge letdown if it hadn't been for their tech expert telling me the KISS DP-600 they had switched on but not connected was too complex for them to setup. "Aw man, it's like a PC, with innernet an' evrytin!" Apparently their price for it is €2K, and someone was coming in specially to get it up and running.
