    hi there,

i am having a weird problem on 2 pc's i cannot access hotmail.com or any other microsoft websites.

the 2 pcs are dell's, when i got them i uninstalled the mcafee trial. and then connected them to the internet via a belkin wireless adsl modem through eircom dsl.

all other sites are fine, no other firewall on the pc's

i can ping the sites and i get a response. i have tried both firefox and ie.

Check the security level that IE is set to. Hotmail is a secure site so if ur security is high you won't be able to get there

I had the same problem with a work colleagues computer, couldn't access her hotmail, MSN, nothing. I practically pulled everything apart to try and figure out what was going on. I eventually just went a bit nuts and re-registered I.E dll's which I think is softpub32.dll - there is a command you can run from the Run box, but cant remember the specifics. If ya google it Im sure ull be able to grab the command code.

Anyho, to cut a long story short, after my .dll melee I also uninstalled the anti virus, mainly coz it was getting on my nerves, and hey presto was able to access hotmail and part messenger. I say this because it was the really old school messenger that came with XP, but messenger 7.5 weren't having a jot of it. Eventually had to reinstall Windows to resolve the issue. I think the main issue was that SSL had become corrupt (which is what many websites use nowadays including hotmail)
