Battery Pack problems

Every now and then when I am using the battery pack on my 20D the power to camera stops altogether.

I then have to take the batteries out, shove them back in and turn the camera back on. Sometimes the camera wont power up unless I remove the battery grip completely and put the single battery back in the camera body.

Anyone know why or how I can stop it in future??

    Any dirt on the contacts?

whats the serial number on the grip? I had a similar problem with mine (it's a well documented problem). It went to Canon along with the 20D when the CF slot got busted and they fixed it. No more powering off now.

Its caused by the grip flexing against the bottom of the camera. The electrical contact gets broken and hey presto, no more power.

theyre always going on about it on DP Review. Post the serial here and I'll compare it with my repaired model.

Hmm.. I would have thought that'd be new enough to have been caught in the re-design. My old one I had to have serviced was 16XXXX while the new one is 24XXXX. Might be worth a call to Canon UK service center anyway, it seems as if that's what the problem is.
