    Hi all,

My rear demister is currently not working.

    I need a temporary solution.
Does anybody know where, or if, you can get some kind of thing that you stick to the window and plug into the cigarette lighter that does the same job?

There is NO internal condensation. The windows get misty on the outside in the cold weather, even after I've cleared them. It's making merging onto the motorway slightly hairy.

    Thanks.

if one of your tracks is broken you can fix it with a metal paint, I don't have a rear demister so I was thinking of buying one of those electric car heaters and mounting it on the rear parcel shelf. Never seen a stick on one.

    Hi Paul,
is it since the shunt you received that the demister has packed up?
I'm sure ive seen a self adhesive rear window demister (kinda like a see thru mat) in motor factors. Have you tried the fuses? My 114 has the pull/push knob for the demister, it stays on til you push it in again to knock it off. The centre of the knob (white) illuminates when operating

    Hi,

I will obviously check in a motor factors. Fuses are OK.
Could always be the switch but I'm researching something temporary before I check that out.

It doesn't come on at all so I dont' know if I need conductive paint!

It has new seals all round so perhaps wires were snipped replacing the rear window...

It's not since the shunt.... that has only affected the rear lens, which is on order.

I got one nearly 10 years ago in rathgar motor factors. As usual, window had to be spotless and the elements were huge. It was daft looking, but it did the job

    lads!

    It's working now. I don't know why.

When I got into the car after work I decided to fiddle with the switch. I pulled it out and the light came on. That hasn't happened before. This morning I put it on and it cleared the window. No broken tracks either!

I don't understand how it's working. I did blow two fuses the other day. I swopped some around from ancillary elecs to headlights so I could drive until I bought some more ceramic fuses... and then put some new fuses in.

Perhaps there was a fuse not working that was visibly OK?

Anway, I don't care. One less job to do!!!!

btw I did find a few references to stick on demisters on uk Triumph forums for approx GBP20-30. They looked OK.

I don't know how quickly they would clear exterior misting.
