Never really liked it tbh.. It's like a poor mans family guy. I guess they didn't have enough manatees to go around.

For me it tops Family Guy (which is excellent) but tbh they dont really need to be compared. You can enjoy them both.

Bar the animation style and seth McFarlands voice, I don't find them al that simlar. Family guy is far more random. there are less of the "like that time" jokes floating around which can be good for the plot, but I'm still a family guy guy

"American Dad" has pretty much been consistently better than "Family Guy" for it's "second" season and "third" season. There's much better characterisation and the plots are typically stronger and rely very little on flashback humour - "Family Guy" tends more than ever towards the random and its references are increasingly obscure.

Everyone should give it a chance, look past the animation and the first few episodes and see it's easily able to distinguish itself from its sibling.

FWIW .. I enjoy both, despite the bizarre scheduling by BBC. I don't see the need to rank one above the other, or to diss one to boost the other.

Watch one, watch both, whatever ..

I enjoy these two whereas I just never got into The Simpsons - horse for courses I guess

American Dad is better than Family Guy

but South Park drop kicks both of them

yeah, seasons 2 and 3 of american dad have def. trumped family guys latest but nothing tops south park.

the only south park ep i thought was crap was the goo-backs one, and after watching it again a year or two after I'd first seen it... i just think it's one of their worst but still preferable to anything else

just to let u know where only starting season 2 of American dad now there is no season 3 and wont be for about 10 months.

but ye it is a good show its as good as family guy sometimes one is better than the other but overall id rate the first 3 seasons of family guy better than what you guys call the first 3 seasons of American dad, even tho there has been no season 3 yet....

American Dad is awesome though, i'd rate it above Family Guy but love both. Have the 1st season box set and seen some season 2 episodes and it's all good.

Season 2 of American Dad has so far been great, season 1 was great so no disappointment so far. Love Family Guy too though, don't know which is better imo but both a great watch.
