    Snatched off mmauniverse:
MMA Weekly have sourced the letter Vitor Belfort has sent to the Nevada State Athletic Commission to explain the evidence of 4-hydroxytestosterone, an anabolic steroid banned by the NSAC, found in his system.

"In regard of the disciplinary complaint against myself about having violated section 467.850 of the Commission Regulations, all I have to say is that I bought a supplement called 'Max Tribostak' at Max Muscle in La Habra, California, which contains 4-Hydroxytestosterone. I had no idea that a supplement bought over the counter at a vitamin store would contain a substance that is illegal in the state of Nevada. This lack of knowledge is costing me a great deal, hurting my image throughout every newspaper in Brazil, which caused me to lose some of my sponsors, and most of all the risk of being suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. I hope you consider my letter before taking any formal disciplinary actions.

    Sincerely,

    Vitor Belfort"

Belfort’s case is still pending. He will appear in front of a Nevada State Athletic Commission panel soon to hear if he will be fined or suspended from competition.

While i do feel bad for Vitor that the press have gone to town on him, and he seems to be a legitmate case of getting a substance that is banned in one state but legal in another and not realising it, the simple fact is that as a fighter it is his job to ensure that any supplement he is taking is legal where he will be fighting.

Also, taking a test boosting supplement especially, can be notoriously dodgy territory and you should be extra careful about ingredients in them.

As above.I like Vitor. If hes in the game this long, and a lad his size knows how to bulk himself up, so I'd say hes familiar with these substances and if they are illegal or not illegal in each state, he should make his business to know, before putting it back his Neck....... or it could cost him his career.

Belfort would of been better off admiting it and apologize. Making excuses like that will only make things worse for him. Plus he should of had a lawyer read his letter. Saying that the stuff he used came from Max Muscle can be libelous.
