Used darkroom chemicals

Anyone know where to get rid of used darkroom chemicals, namely developer and fix, in the South Dublin area?

Also, anyone know if it is a bad idea to store used developer and used fix in the same container (a 2L coke bottle) .... already did, just wondering if my apartment will have exploded while I am at work ....

I've heard that small amounts are ok to go down the sink, that the local treatment plant should have no trouble handling it. But maybe you could ring the council? I was thinking of contacting them or my local recycling centre, just to see if they'd know.
I feel a bit guilty putting it down the sink, though!

When i started developing years back i rang my council and was informed that it is safe to pour the developer and fixative down the drain as they are relatively weak. However, i have found another use for it.

Mixing the two together and pouring it onto a patio covered in green limescale and left for an hour and then rinsed off removes all limescale. I also found an ant nest a few months back outside the front of my house, and when i poured on and into the nest it killed everyone of them.

And so this would lead us to believe it is sensible to pour it down the sink?

No but seriously, in small quantities it isn't too bad, but anything more and it can do serious damage right the way up the ecosystem... but that is if you put it down the sink, pouring it in you back garden is just a very bad idea...
