I've got a new IPOD but I'm having some trouble using it.

Downloaded ITunes and Installed on PC ok. I have a lot of music on PC mainly cds. These are in WMA format. I have tried adding these to the Itunes library but a message comes up saying they are protected and cannot be converted... Is there anything I can do to convert these to a format readable by ITunes rather than having to copy yhem all to the Library again.

    Cheers for any help.

You have ripped your CD's to your PC with the "apply Digital Rights Management" feature enabled in Windows Media Player as such iTunes cannot import the protected WMA audio files. I believe newer versions of WMP no longer do this by default but I'm not sure you can disable the apply DRM via WMP->Tools->Options->Rip Music & untick "copy protect music".

The simple answer is to re-rip the files with iTunes don't worry it wont add any protection (but it will to files you buy from the iTunes store).

However it is also possible to strip the DRM from the audio files making them importable into iTunes through a program called FairUse4WM but Microsoft have been patching WMP to stop it working so if you have installed any updates to WMP lately it may not work.
