    Howdy folks,
I am looking to purchase a digital camera for christmas,
I've had a look over at komplett.ie and I see there recommendation's of cannons
I read up another topic and people have said to stick to Nikon or cannon
I was looking at either this one
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=319066
    or this one
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=319067

there is bit of a price difference between the two, and I don't think I'd have a need to be using more than 5MP in the pictures anyway?
but the weight of these is also a turn off.. 1kg, and take 4 batterys and non rechargeable it doesn't state
could anyone help me out a bit ?
    many thanks

Ok Hi!! i live in a totally different country, so we might not have the same online stores, but i have to say, if you don't have the company Kodak anywhere near you, than that's a real bummer, they have really great quality and if you buy the printers you can have really cool borders, and you can print them at your own house, the memory cards vary depending on how many pics you want to have at one time let me see if i can find you anything that sells kodak. Oh, and: cannon is a great on also! :D

It's great and it's pretty much the same price as the other one its not in gbp, it's in united states dollars, that's like 1/2 the price of gbp

In all fairness , stick to the Canon , Kodak arnt getting good reviews at the moment , not for digital anyway , they all come in pretty average ,

Those 2 Canons you posted are fine , the difference between them is mainly that the more expensive one has better video capabilites , it will take 640 x 480 at 30 frames a second instead of 10 frames a second on the cheaper one. ( 30 frames a second is nice smooth video , 10 is not ! )

The extra megapixel on the dearer one wont make much difference , so if your not bothered about the video quality buy the cheaper one. All the other features of the camera are exactly the same.

The camera itself only weighs 170 -180- grams , the 1 kilo weight is the box with the manuals and all the accessories included , the manuals are most of the weight.

Both of them take 2 x AA batteries , you can buy rechargables but make sure they are good quality with at least 2100mah rating , lower than this will mean they wont last long on a charge.

As with all digital cameras you only get a very small memory card with these , its only 16MB which will take about 8 pictures at the highest quality settings , so youll need to buy an SD memory card , good news is that they are cheap. I'd recommend a 1 gig card , should let you take about 200 high quality shots , that should be enough no matter where you go !

'Herself' has the older/lower res version the A510 and I'm continually amazed by the quality of pics it produces.(and this is from a Nikon man !)

Like Andy said buy a charger and rechargeable high capacity AA's,(around €20 or so)'cos the A510 is pretty hard on the Duracells.
The advantage is,if you're stuck you can get AA's in almost any shop

@Krtswim thanks for the link, but that kodak looks quite the bulky! and ordering off us site.. would get me caught on customs I also don't think I've ever come accross someone with a kodak digi camara,
What are peoples recamnations on the sonys?

Andy thanks for pointing out the mian difference on the camaras recordings.
I had seen "continous recording" 2 frames/sec and I was thinking that couldn't be sounding right! I'd say I may go for the dearer option as I would be taking the video to dance festivals myself an recording a bit of the crowds
heads up about the type of batterys I'd need to be after aswell.
I'd proberly pick up a scan disk sd card off ebay they usually cheap enough they're
