PROBLEMS WITH MY E-MAC..... (OS X version 10.2)

    At long last...I am on broadband since last Tuesday………..
    What can I do to resolve these problems ?

    (1) Explorer crashes very often….how to stop this?
    When it has not crashed and I succeed in bringing up france2.fr or france3.fr news it is in sound only no vision Why?

    (2) When you download Window media for Mac (for above) where do you put file on your hard disk?

    (3) Do I have to (or should I) move on to 10.3 or 10.4 and how much does it cost?

    1) Explorer? Microsoft don't support explorer for Mac any more - so get rid of it and use Safari, Firefox, Camino or ANY other browser but that!

    2) What exactly do you mean? When you download movies - where do you put them? I would put them in my movies folder. Or are you talking about the Windows Media Player? Put that in your applications folder.

    3) Why do you think you should move to 10.4?

    How/Where do I get one of them?

    Yes , I meant Windows Media Player ...any pitfalls to avoid in downloading this?

    I note that some of the latest tnt (dtt) decoders can only be used with 10.4
    (to allow one to watch DTT on a Mac)

    ANY browser is better than Explorer 5. The Mac comes with Safari which is decent enough although I think you'll need to mover to Panther or Tiger in order to use newer versions or Firefox.

    Media player 9 is the latest available for Mac. Consider Flip4Mac instead, it's a neater solution.

    You will need a good rooftop antenna to watch DVB from ROI. You should really consider upgrading your E-Mac to Tiger and some extra RAM to avail of the latest apps and drivers.

    It is very difficult when one is not a computer 'whzz-kid'. Things usually happen totally by chance (or luck!)

    My E-mac came with Explorer
    I am now on Safari 1 while still on Os X 10.2 (seems to have downloaded ok)
    Some difficulty in putting my name and password into boards.ie I did it it three times and got the form page each time indivating that I was to fill it in (again). To my surprise on accessing one of the other boards pages I was welcomed!
    I also seem to have full access to France 2/3 news via Media Player

    Now I need 2.8 to transfer my digital camera (HP photosmart R727) output. I understand I can download this but please tell me how.

    Do I have to pay 129 euros in order to get 3 or 4 (Panther/Tiger)

    Give us the specs on your e-Mac. For now make sure 10.2 (Jaguar) is up to-date. Go to the top left of your screen to the apple click it and then click software update. I think 2.8 is the latest. If you want to get the most out of your Mac I would get Tiger.
