"Designed to work on both Macintosh computers and PCs, this drive includes powerful EMC Retrospect Express backup and recovery software, a unique Capacity Gauge LED, and capacities up to 500 GB."

Premier edition works on macs also and has firewire capabilities, and has "recovery software", and has larger space

Bought the girlfriend the essential edition, and a few of the lads in work have one too, very nice neat Ext HDD, it turns itself off automatically which is nice, my maxtor stays spinning all the time.

I'm in the market for one but has to be a 2.5" usb powered one as i dont go for the whole lugging an adapter around with me. Bought this http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=327388 but sent it back as it started failing about an hour after i got it. Had the 80Gb model of the passport 1 which was great but i dont think ill get another passport 2 now :(

    Any ideas?

As far as i know OP the same drive is used in both models. 3 ppl in work have these also with no probs.

Sure why not get an 80gig ipod or any other HDD mp3 player for that matter?

reason i sold the 80Gb one was to get the 160Gb one i already have a 20Gb mp3 player.

Thinking about a WD book now 320Gb or 500Gb as i bought one of the viking 4Gb usb keys on thursday for €15 :D so i might not need it to be so portable.
