My music takes up a good chunk of the 80GB hard drive on my PowerBook. Advice, please.

Change the HD for a bigger one or get an external one for anything you don't necessarily need portability on. There is no way to really compress the files if you want to be able to listent to them regularly as they will already have been compressed to using whatever bitrate you select for your desired quality.

When it comes to music there's no replacement for displacement as they say!!

One option is do a custome install of OSX and remove all the crap you never use like multile languages and the countless device drivers you know you'll never need. Should free up some space.

For language file removal, use Monolingual -- delete everything EXCEPT "English", and all architectures post-G4+.
Restart & you should have a good few Gb extra ;)

you could be encoding your music at a very high quality setting, i was doing that for a bit, then realising how little music i had on my ipod and that it was full, i started investigating, maybe its similar for you?
