Cymbal cleaning?

So I was reading the bag that my Ride cymbal came in, it had a little bit on it telling me to always keep my cymbals clean with Sabian Cymbal Cleaner™, or whatever. Now, I thought, this is obviously pure advertising, not necessarily genuine advice.

So what do you clean your cymbals with? I thought there'd be some sort of home remedy sort of method, like wiping your guitar neck down with lemon juice or something. And if everyone tells me they use Sabian Cymbal Cleaner™, I'll be very disheartened. Please be kind ;)

Yeah my old drummer used something like Brasso. Did the job.

Yep, oxidation forms a patina of, well, non-acoustic crap all over your cymbal. I'd especially recommend keeping the hats clean, if you like the sound of them.

    El PRON,
....Depends how dirty they are?..if its only smudges and fingermarks and basic dust etc - i use ProMark groove juice excellent stuff veryy quick and easy and leaves em like mirrors, for more dirtier cymbals that need a major job well the rub on sabian or zildjian cleaning cream is the way to go...to stop you having to use rub on cream and elbow greese? - clean em more often!! with the groove juice hehhehe ;)

    ciao' amigo....Baggio..........

Bad idea in my experience. Shiney as they come out, brasso leaves a nasty residue on the cymbals that is quite difficult to get rid of.
