PPS - hopefully that's the end of the naff "Save The Cheerleader.. Save The World" tagline!!

Such a corny tagline but you have to admit at the same time it was pretty cool! lol I love this show now and when they said the line in the trailers I got shivers dow my spine! save the cheerleader save the world! Hell ye! :D

Personally I'm hoping this 6 month backlog is going to be an alternate time-line which results in Hiro becoming the 'Super Hiro' we saw come back from the future. Think about it, if you can bend space and time and know you need to save the world, wouldn't it be a good idea to jump out of your timeline, go back six months or so and spend that time training at Krav maga, swordsmanship etc before jumping back to the point in time where you need to save the world?

    Cristopher Eccleston? Sweet!

I was thinking the same thing as Sleepy. And he didn't need to be there for the cheerleader as he sent the other guy there in his place.

Can we call future Hiro with the sword 'Mirai no Hiro'? That means 'Future Hiro' like future trunks in Dragonball Z who also came back from the future with a big sword on his back.

    *********Episode 10*********

Just watched all the episodes up to 10 and I'm loving every inch of it. The latest episode was good but not great, I thought. Glad to see the "six months ago" dealy covered everyone and told us more about Sylar, I wonder if his power is similar to Peters but permanent or is Peter like Sylar but not at his full potential yet? That said I hope these flashback episodes aren't too regular, I liked the pace that was set and this ep, though informative, seemed to throw it off.

So who's everyone favorite Hero so far? At the moment Hiro is tops for me, quirky and interesting with sweet powers to boot (plus he'll eventually get that sword).

Is it me or is the noise of the Shadows from B5 being thrown in at the creepy / Sylar moments?

I thought it was a bit Lostish, with a few of the characters interacting with each other (Eden-Matt etc), and i think Sylar doesn't have any original power, he just knows how to get other people's power. Let's hope there won't be a Casio coming along any time soon! he must have done something to make Chandra turn his back on him though...

Hmmm, I'm not sure. After all he was on Chandras list and if he was just a "norm" then what exactly does he do to get the powers from others? (Personally I'm hoping for a Nibblonianesque brain eating ala Futurama.)
he must have done something to make Chandra turn his back on him though...

I'd say Chandra either catches him killing someone else on his list or cops on to fact that he's suddenly gaining various super powers from nowhere, perhaps a mix of the two. I'm sure I'm horribly wrong...... if only I could paint the future...

Anyone know the going price for some smack?? You kids are still calling it smack right? Right?!?

I'm pretty sure that the heads of the killed "supers" were empty weren't they? must be a lot of extra special nutrition in those skulls:p

Good episode - better than expected considering the type of episode it is. Glad to see it nicely covered just about everyone and not just Hiro.

Loved the fact the Sylar was a fixer of Watches, and now thinks every Hero's head needs 'fixing' :p

Spotted a BSG actor too :)

That was a freaking amazing episode, imho. My favourite so far. I loved the details behind sylar (and now we know how to spell the name! :p ) though they could have been a little bit more subtle about that :p

I wonder if the woman who can control people with her voice, that was working for Claire's (I really need to learn some more characters names) father, was sent in to get Claire off of Chandra's list, why then did Sylar turn up at Claires doorstep. I suppose the obvious possibility is there that Sylar got the list before it was tampered with but then why didnt he know what she looked like?

Also, Hiro's backstory was absolutely fantastic. Knowing that he has the power over time, but still not being able to change the past. Even if he came to that conclusion in a round-a-bout way. A tie-in between what Chandra said about cancers being part of evolution too, and with Hiro's woman (theres that name thing again :p) dying from a blood clot in the brain while still possessing amazing super powers. Also, will her blood clot go on to affect sylar?

Finally, it creates another obstacle for Hiro, in that he needs to overcome his "power block" which I believe, once he does, will basically make him into Future Hiro.

DL and Nikki had a very interesting back story, it basically just filled in the gaps up to and before the heist. The first activation of the Jessica personality. Though she didnt kill anyone, which is surprising. Also, why didnt jessica take the cheque? Seemed a bit out of character.

Also, if Jessica is Nikki's twin sister (at least I assumed they were twins, but may just have been her older sister) how did Nikki end up with (essentially anyway) Jessica sharing her body? ;)

Wow, so many questions answered and a few new ones answered. I was quite disappointed that we didnt find out what happened to DL and I suppose it would have been interesting to see what happened with Paul but all in all, a most excellent episode.

I wonder if they'll be able to keep Sylar captive for long. How many other powers does he have now?

We've seen he also seems to have some sort of ice power and was able to take a few bullets to the chest and survive. He also walked away from the fall that would have killed Peter.

Interesting point, if Sylar is eating the brains then he ate that too.... Hmmmm...

Similarities here with X-Men and Jean Grey becoming the Phoenix but only after here "block" is gone. If Hiro is an "Omega Level" mutant then his powers csn only become more sweet in time!
    Ivan wrote:

Personally I think that the Jessica personality is trying to help Nikki by making her self sufficient and cleaning up her life. She did take the cheque because she is helping and doesn't want to Nikki to "owe" anyone.
    Ivan wrote:

I'm nit sure if it is a separate person, if you've ever read Emma & Me you'll know what I mean. Basically it's a similar story to Nikki's life, her father abuses here etc. The protagonist develops a split personality to deal with the abuse much as Nikki did. "Emma" takes the brunt of the abuse to spare the protagonist an I think it's the same thing here.

I'd go so far as to say that Jessica is Nikki's "block" and that eventually Nikki and Jessica will merge and give Nikki control of here powers.
I wonder if they'll be able to keep Sylar captive for long. How many other powers does he have now?.

I doubt it, when Mr. Bennet asked Isaac to paint Sylar's location he painted the silhouette of a figure shooting rays out of his hands. As this is the future I'm speculating it's Sylar after killing and taking "Radioactive Guys" power. This will have to happen soon before Homeland security put him in a high security prison.

As to his powers he has:

    - His original power (so far unexplained)
    - Telekinisis
    - Ice
    - Possibly advanced regeneration.

Also found this not sure if people know about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Heroes_graphic_novels

but syler and peter must have VERY similar powers both can absorb powers from another "hero" but syler apparently the effect is long lasting....tho it remains to be seen with him in custody how long his powers will last

    Ahhhhh... great episode.

Am too tired to say much but love's Hiros "Great Scot!" line - 'Back To The Future' always win in my books.

A lot of take-in in the episode so might give a rewatch again tomorrow.

Am however looking forward to getting back to present day event's in next week's episode but unfortunately it's the last til late January 2007.

PS - Adam from '24' playing Sylar.. was wrecking my head who that was until i IMDB'd it! :D

Well, we dont actually know that sylar is eating the brains of the other "mutants". He could in fact be carrying around a little belt of brain matter. This is allowing him to "absorb" their powers, like Peter would do, but I highly doubt it. The whole conversation between Chandra and sylar about "Scientifically, if there was such a thing as a soul, it would exist in the brain" leads me to believe that sylar is consuming the brain and therefore the "soul" and thus absorbing the powers...

    But I guess we'll see ;)

Ok so it looks like I was right about why Nathan hates his powers, and them playing a part in his wifes injury. I think I'm right that Peter's power is empathy, to such and extent that he can use the powers of other powered people around him. The word empathy/empathic was bandied about quite a bit with reference to him in this episode.

I think Sylar's power is to see how things work and to see immediately if something is wrong/different. Just like he did with Chandra's watch and TK guys brain. And he has worked out how to take that power, either by studying or eating the brain. I don't think it would have taken much for Chandra to work out what he was doing, afterall this is the guy who was able to work out that humans have suddenly started evolving different superpowers and who those people are. The whole - Gabe's got TK, so does this Brian Davies guy, let's contact him, oh he's dead and his brain's gone, right who's next? Oh this guy's dead and brainless too, and Gabe's just starting to develop the power he should have. - deduction doesn't seem beyond him.

Just caught up with this in time for episode 11. Easily my favourite show with Lost now.

Although the music/singing when something important happens is annoying ("Heeeeee...")

I was hoping it would do me until Lost comes back, but now this is going on a break too. :(

I wonder how the show will continue once they stop the nuke in New York....

    ********EPISODE 11********

    Loving this show! :D

But damn I hope Peter isn't dead,he is one of the better characters. I am not sure what the whole exploding man thing was about. I obviously know now it is Peter, but how and why? How does he cause the explosion?

Hiro v T Rex? lol I wonder will they actually do that.

The Nikki/Jessica thing isn't the best story but I don't dislike her or where the storyline is going. Turning herself into the cops was a bit meh!

Claire's dad is one son of a biatch! I like how they are playing him...is he actually a good guy or a bad guy? He has been wiping the mind of his wife for a while! now his son,and was about to wipe Claire's. He is obviously not running the show as pointed out by the guy giving him orders on the phone.

Sylar looks to be back out on the street soon enough! How was it that he was able to use his powers when Eden was there, and kill her off but not when Mr Bennent was there? So when the ad said a hero would die...did they mean Eden...or is Peter going to be killed off because Eden wasn't actually a main character.

I am going to miss my fix of this show for the next few weeks! :(

And is the Haitian dude a good guy or bad guy? I think he knows that Claire has to remember in order to save the world, so IMO he is a good guy. Also he has a necklace that has the same design as Nikki has on her back...the single helix thingie. Will miss the show for the next few weeks

WOW. some episode... i think eden got killed maybe cos the haitian guy wasn't there to dampen Sylar's power. probably peter comes in contact with the radiatian guy (Theodore Sprague or something?) without knowing who he is... Do you think Sylar killed Eden or did Eden kill herself to stop her brain getting eaten? Smart girl... i wonder if simone has a power, as she was in peter's vision, or just that he cares for her etc.

i'd say a guy going back in time with a sword to fight a dinosaur has probably never been done before, so that should be a laugh.

Haitian guy is now the coolest guy on the show. he could be the one to save the world, just stick him near peter for the next month or so!
Probably the best episode so far...

EDIT: http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/downloads/Heroes_novel_011.pdf shows what happened to Sylar, might tie up any speculation

Have to say i really like this show, along with Dexter... how are we going to get by over the Christmas when all these great shows go on a break... watch re runs of Father Ted Christmas specials..
My fav character definitely has to be Hiro.. so honorable, yet kinda naive. Hopefully we will soon see how the death of his love and his failure to protect her, will guide him in becoming the true samurai that we saw visit Peter on the subway a few eps back

I think we are all forgetting the most important question here. Where was Peter getting his future vision from????? (I called Peter blowing up New York due to his proximity to Sprague as a possibilty after ep 7 so I'm not too blown away by that.)

Peter was getting sick and coughing just before his vision. He first started coughing when he met Claire and Bennett. So what if the vision came from Bennett? The only other main character in proximity to Peter was Audrey and it is possible the vision came from her but the coughing only started with Bennett and I don't think they are introducing another character right now.

It is unlikely to be from Claire or Matt, as Bennett told Sylar that all other powered individuals only exhibited one power. Matt is a mind-reader, Claire is self-regenerating, Nathan a flyer and the Haitian, if he was around Peter, is a telepath of some sort (prof x has one power and could pull off anything the Haitain has done so far).
did Eden kill herself to stop her brain getting eaten?

    I think she did.

Good episode.. nice to see more and more of the heroes intertwining and finally meeting.

Nikki / Jessica storyline still really isn't doing it for me! It seems to be too distant from the overall plot at hand which we want to see developing. We understand the internal struggle but christ, get over it already!

Shame to see Eden (Nora Zehetner) go.. twas a bit of eye candy but for a somewhat known actress (fantastic performance in 'Brick') to be listed as guest star since the start was never too promising for her (hopefully Clea DuVall won't be next.. but i see the partnership between her and Matt lasting a bit longer).

Nice to see the Matt / Peter reverb when together in the same room.. so what power does the Hiatian have? At first i thought it was a power diffuser.. seeing as Matt had difficulty reading both his and Mr Bennett's.. but the Hiatian wasn't immediately nearby when interviewing Claire, was he? And that leaves Mr Bennett.

    Oooooooohhh.. it's a conundrum!

Don't know how much i like the whole Hiro / T-Rex thing.. i thought seemed like a bit of an in-joke than anything serious. The whole "going-back-in-time-don't-step-on-anything" as i'm guessing we all saw in one of The Simpsons Halloween specials a few years back now ("oh.. i wish, i wish i hadn't killed that fish!" :D).

Peter and Hiro are my two favourite characters in the show.. doubt anything will happen to Peter as he seems to be somewhat the heart of the show, and one of the characters most involved in the on-going storyline.

Anyways.. might re-watch them over the break.

They are both a reference to a short story by Ray Bradbury called 'A Sound of Thunder' where people travel back in time to hunt T-rex... but a butterfly is stepped on by accident thus changing the future.

I guessing Peter will have to survive the explosion as he didn't have the scar that Hiro mentioned yet... perhaps this is how he gets it.

Not sure why Peter is sick though... it's possible his encounter with Sylar and his mishmash of powers has affected him somehow.

    Brilliant episode by the way.

Definitely the best episode so far. Absolutely stunning. There were 2 continuity issues that kinda bugged me.

Firstly just before DL got into the car and Nikki/Jessica shot him, they obviously reshot that scene as the first time we saw it, DL opens the door and leans forward and then turns his body back so that the scope is aiming at his heart/left side of his body. But the second time we see it, he doesnt turn back so he gets shot on the right shoulder. A little annoying to be honest, I expect better things.

The other mistake escapes me at this point in time but I'm sure it will come to me when I watch this episode again.

    Favourite scenes were:

Nikki/Jessica, having shot DL, walking straight across the road without looking and passing in between each of the cars perfectly, girls got balls/timing ;) Just a great example of her single mindedness and "skillz".

Hiro and (what is his friends name? :o) friend talking about what to do next and how destiny will lead them to what to do next. Then Isaac rings and hiro answers his friend, about "who is that?" by saying, "Destiny" Great scene :D

Also "I really need to find that sword" made me burst out laughing, amazing expression on Hiro at the time :D Love it!

Other scenes of interest was Sylar pulling Eden through the window. Looking around the room, the toilet, glass (obviously) and even the tray and slide way thing that Clares dad passed his meal through, were all made of plastic. Also, in the last episode when Sylar flung the locker doors at peter they were all made of metal.

So, this leads me to believe Sylar has 2 telekinetic powers. One, like magneto in X-men is the power over metals and is very powerful. He uses this the majority of the time, to pull Eden through the glass. To attack peter with locker doors. To possibly move about as well, for some other reason.

The second is the telekinetic power which is like Jean Grey's telekinetic power, also in the X-men ;) This is a much more limited power and allows manipulation over smaller things like when he moves the glass across the table at chandra's or opening doors, or peeling back a layer of skin around a humans head.

This, or something like it seems the most likely. Remember a few of the people we heard about originally, that Sylar had killed, were killed with "ordinary kitchen utensils" like being stabbed repeatedly with knives and forks etc.

The other thing, the Haitan was around the corner or at least following Matt when he was trying to read Clare and her fathers minds. He must have been interrupting Matt's powers preventing him from reading their minds. Failing that, he may have built in a mental block so that matt could not use his powers against them. This seems possible too as we have still seen no other reason why they took him, kept him for a day and then just let him go after wiping his memory.

And yeah, how cool was it that everyone assumed that he could not speak or at the least believed he could not speak and then he spoke to clare. Or perhaps that was actually his powers talking instead? ;)

Oh and he has to at the very least, be able to mess about with peoples memories as he says that Clares father sent him to make her forget, like he did with his wife etc. many times.

Anyways, fantastic episode, this show just keeps getting better and better. Loving it, shame we have to wait now :(
