    *****Episode 7*****

On this thread the first person to start discussing a new episode must begin their post with a large, bold type "*****Episode (whichever number it is)*****" Then move down several lines, as above, so nobody accidentally reads something they don't wish to.

Comments on episodes which have aired on NBC do not need to be spoilered as long as they are beneath a post demarking that episode. Discussions about previews/spoilers for episodes not yet shown on NBC must be kept in spoilers.

Previous posts on this episode from old thread.

Enjoyed this week's episode.. although it suffered from a severe lack of Hiro and Ando (never thought i'd hear myself saying that after despising them in the pilot.. but they're brillant fun characters, and have great chemistry in the show).

Out of all the plotlines, the only ones that aren't grabbing me are Peter and Nathan's storylines (which is moving a bit too slow).. well, actually let me re-phrase that, Peter's is moving steadily enough in terms of Isaac and the paintings. But Nathan's story is going nowhere. And with his other half in a wheelchair? Obviously that's leading somewhere but better move up the pace!

And the Nikki / Jessica storyline is quickly losing steam fast.. any scenes with Ali Larter and i almost instantly switch off. Her one frozen expression face, brutal acting and snail pace of a plotline just ruins any chance of me developing any interest in that character's future.

But enjoyed the stuff with Clare and her brother.. couple of quirky funny moments and i liked the YouTube reference (was only a matter of time before we heard a YouTube reference in a show).

Glad to see Grunberg back in it as Matt.. thought his scenes with the best in this week's episodes if just for the set design on the "melted house" alone. But his character does really interest me.. it's the whole internal conflict between wanting and not wanting the powers given to you.

And i think i read Clea DuVall was becoming a regular.. she just disappeared after Carnivalé.

PS - also for '24' fans.. i only finished 'Day 5' on Sunday night but did ye all spot Miles Papazian in tonight's episode? Hard to miss!

I'm quite liking Nikki's storyline now. Is it a coincidence that her ex also has powers? And her evil side seems to be gaining more control and also seems to have super strength. I don't think she is a bad actress either, not great or anything,I mean her kid out acts her! She is also very fine ;):D

I also like Clea Duvall, would be good if she became a regular.

    And from 1x07 thread

    Ivan wrote:
As for the episode in question, I quite liked the exploding car bit with Hiro, yet again my favourite character so far. His child like fascination every time he uses his power is not only funny but exactly the way I'd be

Micka has a bit of a crappy super power but then I guess its early days yet

I still cant believe Peter (I think his name is, the guy who can tap into other peoples powers when he is around them) hasnt realised how his power works, yet. Its a bit frustrating
Though the dream bit combined with the black guys timely death seems to suggest there is more to it than even we have considered.

And yeah, I love the crossovers between the different stories... should make for interesting results when they all finally converge

Not the best episode so far but quite good all the same.

    tvnutz wrote:
Even though I have already commented on the other thread I might as well say I enjoyed this ep. I am liking Nikki's story even though others don't seem to. She has gotten a lot more interesting recently.

Also Greg Grunberg is great, good character and actor.

The Petreilli (sp?) bros story isn't great. Well Peter's is not bad,but the giy who can actually fly,he is boring me so far.

Not the best episode but better than last weeks. I loved the bit with Hiro telling Micah about how the comic is about him "Yatta." And the way Micah looked to Ando for confirmation and Ando nods and points to Hiro and Micah goes "didn't you visit my mom?" I also thought DL, wondering how he ended up at the side of the road instead of the center of the explosion, must be thinking "I have more powers:cool:"

I don't mind the pace the show moves at, while it moves too slowly for my desire to see them all get together I still enjoy every minute of each episode.

Ivan, re Peter. When he talked to Mohinder he did know how his powers worked, insomuch as we do. He told him that he seemed to mimic the powers of any super-powered beings around him. But now with his dreaming thing there seems to be a bit more than that. I had originally thought that Simone's father had some sort of precognative ability as Peter had the dreams about flying when he was around him. So he was syphoning his power. But that does not appear to be the case now. I think Peter may be an empath, and part of his empathic power is to pick up on the ability to use the super powers of other individuals.

When Peter was having his flight dreams, in ep 1, which linked him to his brother it may be because Nathan was having those dreams. I think Nathan discovered his ability to fly during the accident which crippled his wife. By flying he saved himself but couldn't save his wife which explains his bitterness at the uselessness of his flying ability. I think his selfishness toward Peter is actually his ham-fisted attempts to save his brother from messing up because of his powers, as he feels he has.

As for radioactive man, there are a lot of possibilities from this new character. Does he blow up New York? Does Sylar eat his brain and Claire's brain and then blow up New York, survive and go on to blow up somewhere else? (If brain eating to gain poweres is what Sylar does). Does Peter blow up New York because he is in proximity to radioactive man? (Don't think so but it's possible I guess). If both he and Matt have the same marks on their neck were they put there by Bennet's pet telepath and do they trigger him to blow up New York, accidently or otherwise? Or is he a complete red-herring and is New York blown up by a bomb.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 390 ✭✭roar_ie

When we met radioactive man, I instinctively thought that this guy was responsible for the explosion in New York. His mentioning of not knowing what would happen if the 2 FBI agents shot him, leads me to that conclusion. My guess is at the very least he is the trigger. Someone else, like Syler could be the one to set him off.

It was nice to see some of the storylines/characters starting to come together and using their powers, Hiro and DL. I am looking forward to more of this in the coming episodes as the various stories start coming together.

All in all IP enjoyed the episode and continue to enjoy the series and I am looking forward to seeing how everything progresses.

    *****Episode 8*****

I don't know.. this week's episode just didn't do it for me. I didn't particularly feel like a whole lot happened.

Might just be me.. but it all washed over me a bit.

The scenes with Mohinder were all a bit forgettable - yes, we understand the metaphor of the "Do you wish to quit?" prompt on the screen.. but dilute half the episode with Mohinder's internal struggle. But noticed the name on the file that Mohinder was holding? Sanjog Iyer.. bit close to Sylar.

Favourite bits were Matt's though they felt quite brief. The bits with Hiro and Ando were also quite good.. hmmmmmm... i wonder will Hiro will rescue the waitress!

Odd that two elements of what i was complaining about last week actually are in a way i missed this week. None of Nikki's backstory.. as i wanted to see more about what's happening Micah and D.L. And also nothing about Peter and Nathan.

But next week is presumably the episode with Clare facing up to Sylar.. so should be mighty mighty interesting!

I thought it was a good episode, Brian. At least they're consistantly good with very little filler. And is it wrong for me to cheer when I don't see Ali Larter's name in the credits at the start? Schizo Niki is the only character thats really starting to annoy me.

I spotted the Sanjog Iyer bit too.... I wonder if he was patient zero?

I have to say it seems like a lot of hassle
why not just do my good idea?

Every week someone creates a new topic WITH A POLL for each new episode so that makes all the heroes people happy and then to stop all those moaners once a week when we create a new thread just merge the previous thread with it, that way every week there is a poll for the most recent episode and also there is only 1 thread for all episode discussion

Can you merge 2 poll topics?

Oh come on man, we have been over this and over this. Byte made his decision and IMO this is far better than have loads of threads.

As for this episode,I think it was a little slow as well. It seems Claire's dad is not really a bad guy as some suggested. Mohinder's stuff was fairly boring and yes I did miss Nikki,Micah and DL...I think they have a very exciting story.

Is every episode going to be "to be continued"? It works really well but is very annoying because I just want more!

I also noticed the name on the folder was similar to Syler but meh, might be a bit of a stretch.

Take it up on feedback, lets just keep this thread for discussing the show, yeah?

So does Mohinder have powers too then? Some sort of past dreaming? I wish he didn't, it would be nice to see a central character who doesn't have powers. I know we have Ando and I guess Bennet, but I would have liked for Mohinder to have just been ordinary.

Erin obviously has some sort of convincer/pusher powers where she can make people do whatever she asks. But she doesn't like using them so she didn't with Mohinder in ep 6. Why didn't she and Bennet just go get Peter and have him paint instead of Isaac? I wonder if there is more to that, as Erin would surely have reported Peter's suspicions about his powers to Bennet and he would have cause to investigate as he know's Nathan can fly.

Don't know if I want Hiro to save memory girl or not. I guess next weeks episode will concentrate on Hiro and her storyline. And we'll see Peter find Isaac's missing picture and head to Texas. Then the following week will be Sylar 'v' Claire and the rest of the heros.

Oh, and who else hates voiceover guy at the start? I laughed out loud a couple of weeks ago when he intro'd Matt's story with "AND THE COP WHO READS MINDS, USES HIS POWERS ..... TO SAVE HIS MARRIAGE!!!!!!!"

Indeed.. and it seems to be the same (or very similar) voice-over extracts used week after week. Just downright irritating!

Could definitely do without the Nikki storyline alright. It's just boring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,216 ✭✭✭Kur4mA

Ah, I have to say the Nikki storyline has grown on me a lot. At first I was just bored by her but with the introduction of DL and Micah being taken by him, it has made her, the story and the whole situation a lot more interesting.

I still prefer a lot of the other characters and their stories but can't wait to see what she does next!

    *********EPISODE 9*********

Damn that was a good episode!

I got so engrossed in it that I actually thought Peter was dead. Of course I should have known better and seen it coming that he would absorb Claire's powers and heal himself. And now he gets arrested

Will they kill off D.L? Hope not,he is an interesting character.

I was a little disappointed that Hiro and Ando where not there to help save Claire, but Peter did an alright job! :p Looks like we will see if Hiro can save whats her face with the annoying accent.

Syler has been captured...now that should be interesting. That was fairly nasty what he did to the annoying cheerleader. I thought he had been using a weapon of some sort be he is literally taking off their heads unsing his mind.

Mohinder's story wasn't amazing,it was just a way to get him back to the US,which we knew would eventually happen anyway.

Is it one more episode before the break? Ill miss this show.I have really gotten into it. If I have one complaint it is that annoying voice over at the start,it is so corny and annoying.

WOW! Really great episode! I actually cheered when Peter just opened his eyes and started healing himself, and Claire was like . Such a great moment!

This was definitely the best episode so far IMO and I am looking forward to it every week- even more so now. :) The only thing that annoyed me about this episode(and it was only a slight annoyance) was the fact that Sylar was dealt with so easily by the scary duo who work with Claire's father. Heroes is the best thing on TV by far at the moment.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 590 ✭✭✭regeneration

So the speculation has to be what Claire's dad is going to do with Sylar? Lock him up? Use him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

im starting to find parts of this show predictble. it was so obvious from very early on that clares healing effect would rub off on him.
what should have happened but didnt was peter should of got all of Sylers nice powers aswell!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,194 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    Another damn fine episode!

Got a better look at Sylar in this episode than past episodes anyways.. was half thinking they'd keep his identity secret til later in the season. But now that's he relatively unknown to us gives greater possibilities to how his character (and powers) came about.

Speaking of which, how horrible was Sylar's "Tin Opener" trick.. bet he'd be a whizz in the kitchen at those tricky Heinz beans cans! :D Think it's been said before but it's quite surprising how bloody and gory this show can be on occasions. Oh, and some top notch effects on Claire's face being re-mended.. what typically would probably look a like plasticine being moulded back together looked quite realistic.

The scenes with Clare and Peter were top notch.. always great to see the "heroes" crossing paths.. and did i notice Clare has a little "something-something" for Peter? Might have been some flirting there. Also noticed how apprehensive Mr Bennett was to go back and see Peter.

Yes, Mohinder's scenes were all a bit tired.. seeing as we all knew he'd go back to the US. But did anyone else spot the familiar names on the list Mohinder found? I paused and spotted Clare, Matt, Peter, Hiro, DL, Isaac and Niki. Noticed a couple of RED deceased on there too.

Doubt they'll kill off DL this early.. took me a moments to realise who "Jessica Sanders" was with the gun near the start.

My only qualm is i don't like the whole 'Six Months Earlier' storyline for Hiro and the waitress inevitably due to unveil over the next episode or two. The show is moving at a steady pace right now with more and more of the heroes crossing each other's path.. do we really need a waste a show on the waitress storyline? Something good better come out of it.

PS - was i the only one who spotted the bloke wearing the BSG shirt in the crowd? :D Oh, and the whole crowd of freaks applauding the "once popular now realised she's a freak" was a horrible cliché.. almost unforgivable if this show wasn't damn excellent in every other respect!

PPS - hopefully that's the end of the naff "Save The Cheerleader.. Save The World" tagline!
    User45701 wrote:

Are you saying it was a plot goof, or you wanted it to happen? Sylar left while Peter was still injured though, as Clare said he ran away before she got there!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,216 ✭✭✭Kur4mA

So the speculation has to be what Claire's dad is going to do with Sylar? Lock him up? Use him?

I reckon he's gonna try to use him but it will backfire. I'm starting to think that his double team act of scary quiet black guy and miss pretender(she doesn't REALLY care) are going to turn against him and/or side with Sylar. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Great episode... I hope that the "6 months earlier" episode is going to deal with more than just Hiro and the cute waitress.

Apparently Christopher Eccleston is going to be joining the cast in the new year. Possibly to play
    Sylar
    That would be pretty cool.

    Re-he-ally?...
we practically saw Sylar (or should i say, who we "THINK" is Sylar) so i'd like to see how they'd get Chris into it..

.. would i correct in saying it's never been confirmed if this dark shadowed man IS in fact Sylar? IIRC, we first got the idea of "THAT'S Sylar" when Matt gave the dark shadowed man chase. But now that Mr Bennett has captured this man.. i've a feeling they may confirm it's NOT.

PS - Christopher Eccleston would be a great addition to the cast though!

Such a corny tagline but you have to admit at the same time it was pretty cool! lol I love this show now and when they said the line in the trailers I got shivers dow my spine! save the cheerleader save the world! Hell ye! :D

Personally I'm hoping this 6 month backlog is going to be an alternate time-line which results in Hiro becoming the 'Super Hiro' we saw come back from the future. Think about it, if you can bend space and time and know you need to save the world, wouldn't it be a good idea to jump out of your timeline, go back six months or so and spend that time training at Krav maga, swordsmanship etc before jumping back to the point in time where you need to save the world?

    Cristopher Eccleston? Sweet!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I was thinking the same thing as Sleepy. And he didn't need to be there for the cheerleader as he sent the other guy there in his place.

Can we call future Hiro with the sword 'Mirai no Hiro'? That means 'Future Hiro' like future trunks in Dragonball Z who also came back from the future with a big sword on his back.

    *********Episode 10*********

Just watched all the episodes up to 10 and I'm loving every inch of it. The latest episode was good but not great, I thought. Glad to see the "six months ago" dealy covered everyone and told us more about Sylar, I wonder if his power is similar to Peters but permanent or is Peter like Sylar but not at his full potential yet? That said I hope these flashback episodes aren't too regular, I liked the pace that was set and this ep, though informative, seemed to throw it off.

So who's everyone favorite Hero so far? At the moment Hiro is tops for me, quirky and interesting with sweet powers to boot (plus he'll eventually get that sword).

Is it me or is the noise of the Shadows from B5 being thrown in at the creepy / Sylar moments?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 690 ✭✭✭Gingervitis

I thought it was a bit Lostish, with a few of the characters interacting with each other (Eden-Matt etc), and i think Sylar doesn't have any original power, he just knows how to get other people's power. Let's hope there won't be a Casio coming along any time soon! he must have done something to make Chandra turn his back on him though...

Hmmm, I'm not sure. After all he was on Chandras list and if he was just a "norm" then what exactly does he do to get the powers from others? (Personally I'm hoping for a Nibblonianesque brain eating ala Futurama.)
he must have done something to make Chandra turn his back on him though...

I'd say Chandra either catches him killing someone else on his list or cops on to fact that he's suddenly gaining various super powers from nowhere, perhaps a mix of the two. I'm sure I'm horribly wrong...... if only I could paint the future...

Good episode - better than expected considering the type of episode it is. Glad to see it nicely covered just about everyone and not just Hiro.

Loved the fact the Sylar was a fixer of Watches, and now thinks every Hero's head needs 'fixing' :p

Spotted a BSG actor too :)

That was a freaking amazing episode, imho. My favourite so far. I loved the details behind sylar (and now we know how to spell the name! :p ) though they could have been a little bit more subtle about that :p

I wonder if the woman who can control people with her voice, that was working for Claire's (I really need to learn some more characters names) father, was sent in to get Claire off of Chandra's list, why then did Sylar turn up at Claires doorstep. I suppose the obvious possibility is there that Sylar got the list before it was tampered with but then why didnt he know what she looked like?

Also, Hiro's backstory was absolutely fantastic. Knowing that he has the power over time, but still not being able to change the past. Even if he came to that conclusion in a round-a-bout way. A tie-in between what Chandra said about cancers being part of evolution too, and with Hiro's woman (theres that name thing again :p) dying from a blood clot in the brain while still possessing amazing super powers. Also, will her blood clot go on to affect sylar?

Finally, it creates another obstacle for Hiro, in that he needs to overcome his "power block" which I believe, once he does, will basically make him into Future Hiro.

DL and Nikki had a very interesting back story, it basically just filled in the gaps up to and before the heist. The first activation of the Jessica personality. Though she didnt kill anyone, which is surprising. Also, why didnt jessica take the cheque? Seemed a bit out of character.

Also, if Jessica is Nikki's twin sister (at least I assumed they were twins, but may just have been her older sister) how did Nikki end up with (essentially anyway) Jessica sharing her body? ;)

Wow, so many questions answered and a few new ones answered. I was quite disappointed that we didnt find out what happened to DL and I suppose it would have been interesting to see what happened with Paul but all in all, a most excellent episode.

I wonder if they'll be able to keep Sylar captive for long. How many other powers does he have now?

We've seen he also seems to have some sort of ice power and was able to take a few bullets to the chest and survive. He also walked away from the fall that would have killed Peter.

Interesting point, if Sylar is eating the brains then he ate that too.... Hmmmm...

Similarities here with X-Men and Jean Grey becoming the Phoenix but only after here "block" is gone. If Hiro is an "Omega Level" mutant then his powers csn only become more sweet in time!

Personally I think that the Jessica personality is trying to help Nikki by making her self sufficient and cleaning up her life. She did take the cheque because she is helping and doesn't want to Nikki to "owe" anyone.

Also, if Jessica is Nikki's twin sister (at least I assumed they were twins, but may just have been her older sister) how did Nikki end up with (essentially anyway) Jessica sharing her body? ;)

I'm nit sure if it is a separate person, if you've ever read Emma & Me you'll know what I mean. Basically it's a similar story to Nikki's life, her father abuses here etc. The protagonist develops a split personality to deal with the abuse much as Nikki did. "Emma" takes the brunt of the abuse to spare the protagonist an I think it's the same thing here.

I'd go so far as to say that Jessica is Nikki's "block" and that eventually Nikki and Jessica will merge and give Nikki control of here powers.
I wonder if they'll be able to keep Sylar captive for long. How many other powers does he have now?.

I doubt it, when Mr. Bennet asked Isaac to paint Sylar's location he painted the silhouette of a figure shooting rays out of his hands. As this is the future I'm speculating it's Sylar after killing and taking "Radioactive Guys" power. This will have to happen soon before Homeland security put him in a high security prison.

As to his powers he has:

    - His original power (so far unexplained)
    - Telekinisis
    - Ice
    - Possibly advanced regeneration.

Also found this not sure if people know about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Heroes_graphic_novels

but syler and peter must have VERY similar powers both can absorb powers from another "hero" but syler apparently the effect is long lasting....tho it remains to be seen with him in custody how long his powers will last

    Ahhhhh... great episode.

Am too tired to say much but love's Hiros "Great Scot!" line - 'Back To The Future' always win in my books.

A lot of take-in in the episode so might give a rewatch again tomorrow.

Am however looking forward to getting back to present day event's in next week's episode but unfortunately it's the last til late January 2007.

PS - Adam from '24' playing Sylar.. was wrecking my head who that was until i IMDB'd it! :D

Well, we dont actually know that sylar is eating the brains of the other "mutants". He could in fact be carrying around a little belt of brain matter. This is allowing him to "absorb" their powers, like Peter would do, but I highly doubt it. The whole conversation between Chandra and sylar about "Scientifically, if there was such a thing as a soul, it would exist in the brain" leads me to believe that sylar is consuming the brain and therefore the "soul" and thus absorbing the powers...

    But I guess we'll see ;)

Ok so it looks like I was right about why Nathan hates his powers, and them playing a part in his wifes injury. I think I'm right that Peter's power is empathy, to such and extent that he can use the powers of other powered people around him. The word empathy/empathic was bandied about quite a bit with reference to him in this episode.

I think Sylar's power is to see how things work and to see immediately if something is wrong/different. Just like he did with Chandra's watch and TK guys brain. And he has worked out how to take that power, either by studying or eating the brain. I don't think it would have taken much for Chandra to work out what he was doing, afterall this is the guy who was able to work out that humans have suddenly started evolving different superpowers and who those people are. The whole - Gabe's got TK, so does this Brian Davies guy, let's contact him, oh he's dead and his brain's gone, right who's next? Oh this guy's dead and brainless too, and Gabe's just starting to develop the power he should have. - deduction doesn't seem beyond him.

Just caught up with this in time for episode 11. Easily my favourite show with Lost now.

Although the music/singing when something important happens is annoying ("Heeeeee...")

I was hoping it would do me until Lost comes back, but now this is going on a break too. :(

I wonder how the show will continue once they stop the nuke in New York....
