Where abouts along the coast was "Garrarus beach, Waterford". Or more accurately, where is Garrarus beach?

    V. nice btw.

Go past Rocketts pub on the road to Kilfarrassy from Tramore and go down the hill with the hump at the bottom (the one everyone hits at about 70). Right at the hump there's a road in to the left that leads down to Garraus. It's lovely down there.

Oh! And great pics by the way, last one is my fave, closely followed by no.1 :)

As Roen said, halfway between Tramore and Kilfarrassey, off the road that runs parallel to the Tramore-Fenor road. The rocks behind which the sun's disappearing are the ones that are at the far end of the beach just to the east of Kilfarassey. Good spot for swimming too, though I wouldn't recommend it at this particular time of year!

Healy's pass is on the Beara peninsula. Follow the coast road from Glengarriff towards Castletownbere, and after about 20km there's a turn to the right which crosses the mountain. Pretty spectacular part of the country.

Super work are the HDR's from bracketing?

Wow, I didn't notice Healy's pass, it's one of my favourite locations anywhere in Ireland!

Thanks! Yeah, they're all bracketed. I used to, and occasionally still, use a raw processed several times, but this can lead to lots of noise in the shadows. I mostly use auto exposure bracketing with +/- 1 1/3 stops. I also shoot them all raw, so I have a bit more leeway to adjust exposure when I'm processing them

HDR stands for high dynamic range. It basically means merging several images taken at different exposures to compensate for very bright or dark areas in the scene, usually bright sky and dark shadows in the foregound. It's a digital equivalent of using filters, though each approach has its advantages and disadvantages

A few people asked me to post a tutorial on doing HDRs in the Digital Darkroom forum, so it being a lazy Sunday morning, I've done this here

I was about to ask too, I'd never heard of this HDR technique before, and by looking at your great results I'm eager to give it a try! Thanks for posting the images and the tutorial
