Looking good. Nice to see more than one opponent.
The spiderman movies are fun to watch, nothing special but an enjoyable popcorn movie that can be watched a few times.
    Looking forward to watching this.

With the exception of the literal new use of flag-waving  that trailer looks pretty damn cool. But not being an avid comic reader I'm a little confused
Who exactly is Venom? Topher Grace?

Spiderman first then the other guy

Yeah looks really good. Raimi's done a good job with these films. Anyone know what the word is on a Spider-Man 4?

I think both Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire have said this is the final one they'll commit to.. but will the almighty buck tempt them back!

Can see Raimi stopping after this one though.

Dammit!! I don't know why but the video won't play, only the audio. Anyone know if it's up anywhere else??

You're right of course but this is Hollywood we're talking about. I reckon they've got as far as Spider-Man 6 planned.

I'm not a huge fan of the films but I can't see any future sequels working without Raimi as director.

Yeah, i think Venom doesn't come into being till Eddie Brock merges with the symbiote (could be wrong)

Looks great but hopefully in the few months left they'll clean up that Cg. Still looks really ropey some of it.

Looks alot darker than the first two which is good.
However that trailer has an awful lot of spoilers plotwise in it.

The Sandman looks great, although I think the idea of having him being behind Uncle Ben's murder is a bit naff and takes away from the origin story, because the whole point was that Peter had the power and the opportunity to stop Uncle Ben's killer but didn't. Having some other guy be the killer ruins all that.

From that trailer it doesn't look like Venom is going to be in this one either, which is a good thing as I felt it was all squeezing too much in, what with the Sandman and Green Goblin II as well. But it looks like there will definitely have to be a Spider-man 4 (The hyphen is very important by the way, Mr. Squill)

I dunno I suspect this will be a twist, it'll turn out Sandman didn't do it. Uncle Ben's death and Peters guilt is one of the few utterly untouched hero origins because it's basically perfect. Ben's also the only character in the marvel universe who has never been revivied. Cloned yes, never revivied

No wait checking the wiki Dr Strange brought he back as a birth present for Spiderman for five minutes, as a birthday present. Bastard. Strange only ever gets me book tokens.

I'm hoping it ties into Harry manipulating peter rather then anything else
it is hinted he almost kills harry in the trailer, so I'm guessing that is when its revealed harry has been playing him with the sandman ploy?

Re: Uncle Ben's killer in the first film (the one Peter hunted down) - its been a while since id seen it, but did we see the guy shoot Uncle Ben? or was it just implied that he killed him?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,208 ✭✭✭✭aidan_walsh

Wasn't he escaping in Uncle Ben's car? Unless they're going to say that he had been shot before the other guy arrived, or that he had been working with him.

The ComicCon trailer was fantastic.. if just for that brief but amazing shot of Venom at the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,837 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

I thought they had already signed up for, and were actually shooting the 4th, back to back with the 3rd. The rumour i had heard was the shooting schedule and budget for the '3rd' was almost doubled, which is why people think the 4th is being done.

I would hate to see them do the Venom story this time round, cause there would not be enough time to do it justice alongside Sandman and Goblin.

Yeah a giant sand monster is never gonna look realistic, I guess

But I'd imagine there's still alot of work to be done on the effects before release. The film doesn't come out till next summer... Not that the previous two turned out any better, mind you

ooo, like the look of venom. though i betcha the way that trailer ends is gonna be the EXACT way the film ends. grr

All the content has been removed thanks to Sony.

Perhaps everyone is correct in assuming the Venom character (in Eddie Brock form) will be saved for the next spider-man outing.

The new trailer centres on Sandman and Ozbourn (Goblin) so it wouldn't be a terrible a thing to leave Venom until the possible next movie

    Time will tell

i dunno - isn't there a bit where parker looks to be trapped in a black web, that could only really happen if he was fighting venom at the time, so there seems to be at least some Spidey vs Venom action in the movie.

I hope there isn't, if they try to squeeze it all in to one movie, it will ruin at least one of the storylines. Venom is too cool to waste, he needs to be kept til the 4th.

Not really suggesting anything of the kind. According to the Venom Genesis storyline (which looks to be followed pretty well here), Parker does become somewhat darker while he has the black suit, leading him to discover what it really is. The struggle shown seems to be where Spiderman is discarding the suit in the belltower, using the sounds of the bells to weaken the symbiote, which eventually falls away and finds Eddie Brock.

thats what i origianally thought, and hoped for. Apparently Remi has said Venom (as Brock) will only appear int he last 20 minutes. If they screw it up and finish the bock/venom story within those 20 mins i'm gonna be so annoyed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,721 ✭✭✭Otacon

Apparently, Tobey Maguire and most of the cast and crew only signed on for three movies. Now, I know that its always possible to sign on for more, but if they're smart, they'll stop the franchise before it gets dull.

As for the Venom storyline, by the time you actually get to see Venom, most of the dramatic stuff between Parker and Brock is done, so it being left until the last twenty minutes may not be a bad thing...

But there is also the Harry and Sandman stories to go through. If the movie was just about Spidey, the symbiote, brock and venom then yes, the last 20 would be ok (but only ok) But with the other 2 stories in there, especially with the crappy sandman revelation i don't think they could do justice to the venom story. If they try to fit all 3 in, its gonna be one stinker of a movie.
