    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows what the story is with affordable housing thresholds, criteria for application etc.. I'm currently a joint owner of a house which i bought with a friend two years ago. The house is in Wicklow and I'm planning to sell up and move back to Dublin very shortly. I'm currently earning around 48k per annum so I'm not sure if I can qualify for the scheme or not. The Banks will only give me a mortgage for around 230k, which doesn't help much if your trying to get a place in Dublin!

    Hi Orbison,

The threshold for the affordable housing is 40k at the minute.

I feel your pain Orbison ,in a bit of a catch 22, you cant get a mortgage for anywhere decent and yet you dont qualify for affordable housing.

You have to be a first-time buyer too, so you're screwed both ways.

Only in some areas, DCC limit is e65k, no limit in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown

It's done off a formula. DCC's application form has the mathematical formula on it. DL-R list is closed til year end so can't apply til then anyway

You'll just have to do what others who aren't eligible for the affordable homes do... buy the 'unaffordable' ones :D

    Sorry, couldn't resist :p

DCCs threshold is higher but you have to be a first time buyer.
