The outlet store is a good place to shop.

Some of them are refurbished but others are new machines where the order was canceled after Dell had sent the system for production so they couldn't cancel it so they put it in the outlet store to get rid of it quickly as they can't afford to stock all of these cancelled orders in the hope someone requests a laptop with identical specs.

Anyway just make sure you have a decent warranty.

Careful about the battery on a second hand lappy as it may be fairly depleted. What do you intend to use the laptop for?

Everything! really be happy if it could play fm2007, write up my college essays for me, internet , tie my shoelaces. Outlet would be nice if they didnt whoop you with the tax at the end .

You can buy a brand new cheap and cheerful luggable laptop for that much, and you know the new laptop hasn't been dropped or stolen or being sold off because of a problem. So when looking at second hand it must be better than then spending the same money on a new one. Batteries are only guaranteed for a year so cost a replacement battery in if going second hand 50:50 that you might have to change in the next year or so depending on usage (eg: if someone used the laptop on AC and never on battery then the battery will be on the way out from being over charged )

then again if you want lightweight on that budget you are looking at second hand.
