Played the SE and didn’t manage to retain my title this Wednesday. I have to say, that it was the worst standard of play that I’ve witnessed in a poker tournie in a long time..

Started off in seat 8 on table 1, had Bryan McFadden in seat 9, Mickste in seat 1,Liam Flood in 2, Myles in seat 5, donk 1 in seat 6 and donk 2 in seat 7.

I blew my initial stack about 5 hands in when I ran into donk 1 holding the monster that was Q3 and he hit 2 pair. I probably should have waited to realise he was incapable of folding a hand before I made a strong play against him. Both players in seat 6 and 7 just played almost every hand and called nearly every raise, dogging people left, right and centre.

Got my rebuy and managed to hit some cards, but more importantly, I got paid off by some horrendous calls. Some were so bad it was untrue. In 1 particular hand I wasn’t involved in the flop was QQJ..there was heavy betting..turn was a J, one player bets, 2nd player goes all in, next player reraises (he had K10!). The other bloke called. Only 1 of them had a Q…crazy stuff. Just 1 of many bad hands played.

There were 4 players busted in the first 20 minutes (rebuys and everything) with some crazy plays. Unfortunately, I took Mickste out when I woke up with KK after he had raised with 99…no help and Mick was gone.

Moved tables and took a hit or 2 but managed to make the FT with average stack..There were 41 runners and 38 rebuys so they paid the top 6. Prize money was fairly decent with 1k for first.

Possibly the weakest FT that I’ve ever been at. In no particular order, there was Myles x 2, Eamonn, Dark Mick, Tom the taxi driver, Lambchop plus a couple of decent players. A nightmare table because making a move or getting a raise through was near impossible with so many calling stations here.

I made a move with K7, got 3 callers..Flop came A high so had to muck it.Had another unsuccessful punt with 44. Then on the button with AJ, 1 limper (blinds were 800/1500) so I make it 6200. Myles and Lambchop call. Flop is QxJc2c. Checked to me so I bet 9k. Myles calls and Lambchop pushes for 20k more. I have about 20k back. I fold because Myles is 100% calling, which he does. Myles flips over AK and Lambchop has Kc10c. Myles hits a 10 on the turn for a straight.

Couple of hands later. I get 55. 2 limpers so I make it 16k to go (I’m never folding for the last 4k, just wanted to make other players aware of the size of the bet) Get 1 caller and it all goes in on a AA3 flop. He has AJ so gone in 8th.

Taxi Tom took it down, Myles G in 2nd and Mick in 3rd

Lambchop decided he was going home and pushed a ~ 7K stack at 150-300. He was called by Aces. Lambchop had A9s.

    Board came:

    444... 9... 9

Next hand Lambchop pushed with AT and made a straight against AQ.

Next hand he pushed with TT and won a race... That was three players gone in 20 minutes and now he had a monster stack.

Two hands later he pushed on my BB and I had QQ. I called and his AJ connected with an A on the flop.

    Lambchopped.

You had a pretty decent chip stack at the FT. Thought you were gonna go deep myself but you literally gifted lambchop a large percentage of your stack when you had Q5 on the double paired board. I fully expected you to have at least the lower house. Took you a bit of time to get your bearings after that hand.

Yeah, it was a ****ty call on my part. Got myself up to 2nd in chips after that until i got it all in againt mick's 10/8 with A10 and he flopped a straight.
Pretty happy with how i played overall except for the lambchop call.

That first table was a nightmare alright flushdraw. those two lads were unbeliveable. calling and raising with crap. the two of us were just shaking our heads in disbelief.just waiting to get a decent hand to play back at them, but i end up running into ur big hand!

I knew you were on a better hand than me but was willing to gamble when the other fella went all in two. got out of dodge town and in to that cash game which was quite soft.

ul with the two pair by the way, unfortunately for you a player like that was never going to lay down tp. i really fancied you to win as i had folded one of the other aces and then he magically hits his two pair on the turn.sick. ul mate

Yeah the cash tables were unbelievably soft last night. Got dogged nciely though by Ciaran when we got it all in and he hit runner runner to the make a straight when holding 22.

Bought in again but couldnt hit a hand and there werent too many bluffing opportunities at the table. The last hand i played was a big unlucky alright. I couldnt ask for a better flop, flopping 2 pair with the ace out there. I knew i'd get paid by him but i always had to dodge his kicker which didnt happen. C'est la vie.
