The apple i have isin't great in terms of memory. I connected it up to the broadband for the first time yesterday, and downloaded the safari browser. there was another update, but the internet stopped working half way through (oddly enough), and i had to force quit the software update program. the computer was acting a bit sluggish so i decided to reboot it. Now whats really odd.... the computers working fine and so is the keyboard. but the mouse has stopped working, even though there is nothing wrong with it. so i can't use the mouse anytime i turn on my computer. any idea on how to resolve this????:(

Have you tried a different mouse or USB port?
Other than that, your wording is kind of confusing me -- what do you mean "it's not great in terms of memory"?

Can someone move this to Operating Systems->Mac, please?

Yep, i tried but still no result. This is really odd, can macs get viruse's? I didn't think they could. Is there anyway of resetting the whole apple to the day it was born using the keyboard?

    (IE Origional factory settings)

It's not a virus -- we'd have heard all about it by now if there was one out in the wild ;)

There should be stuff about this on the Apple site; I'm sure I saw it in one of my RSS feeds a week or 2 ago... sorry :o

    To OP.

At least throw us a bone and tell us what mac you are using ;)

    Seriously it will help..

Have you tried repairing permissions, or verifying disk in disk utility ?

Try booting up from the system DVD that came with it. You can do so by holding down the "C" button on the keyboard while the DVD is in the drive:

    1. Put DVD in drive, I assume it's slow loading, it should take it automatically
    2. Reboot the computer
    3. While rebooting, hold down the "C" key

    Does the mouse work now?

Is it a laptop or a desktop? Is it white or gray in colour? You can tell us those at least!
