:o Good Morning Everyone, I am currently living in Dublin and looking for a new job and have been with a number of agency's... there is a point to this I swear...

I have been offered an interview with a company who are moving to Portarlington soon and I would need to re-locate with the company! I would be moving down on my own... obviously (or I'd be hoping) that I'd have other work colleagues with me!!!

From reading this forum am a bit in limbo there seems to be good and bad points all round but I suppose that's the same with everyone!!

Am a single white female, 29 - who loves the craic!!!!! (no am not looking for dates!!!! Sounds like that doesnt it??!?!!)

Should I stay or should I go ?!?!?!?!
I havent even got job yet but... maybe I should take it as a sign if I do get the job?!?!?!!?

Inward investment???? Jesus, thats the first time in years I've heard of a company actually moving there!

Should you move.. well if you move down and are working on a Dublin salary rate, and you play it clever, you will be able to save a bomb. Cost of living is about 4/5ths or even 3/4rs or what it is in Dublin. If you wanna rent then you'll get a 3 bed semi D for 600-670 euro per month.

I dunno, I considered moving back down for a while there, but I knew that the lack of facilities and the 'small mindedness' of the locals would drive me nuts.

If you've any specific questions then feel free to ask :)

    hey there,

thanks for the reply!! yes the salary is quite good and they are offering more due to "re-location" so it would be nice!! And as you say if the cost of living is that low in comparision to Dublin I could save a bomb!!

Anywho - will see if I get job or not if I do I'll be back onto you!! Thanks for you help!!

The job and the prospects sound good but I would consider moving to a bigger town in the area. Portarlington is a bit small for a young single girl. I've lived all over Ireland with my job for the last few years and I was always happier in a big town rather than a city. I'm currently living in a small commuter town near cork and I'm regretting not moving to a bigger area. I'm 31 and single so I know where you're coming from.
You could consider Tullamore, Naas or Portlaoise. Naas would be a bit closer to the cost of living in Dublin but it's still a fine town, especially when you are not commuting into Dublin.

Thanks for that Donie.... I'll bear that in mind if I am heading down that way!!

Oh and I especially like your "young girl" comment ;)
