My Racing Post

Has anybody had a chance to have a look at the new features on the Racing Post site? The most interesting being My Racing Post which allows you to record your own notes on a race and provide your own ratings.

The ability to record your notes is a really nice feature, I jotted down notes on quite a few horses over the weekend, the next time they race the RP will highlight that I have notes on this horse.

I know there are things like Horse Tracker when you want to be informed when a horse runs but you generally use Horse Tracker to remind you of horse you've been waiting for, most of my notes over the weekend were negatives on Horses that jumped badly, looked ungenuine, jumped to the right/left etc. so the next time they run I'll have a word of warning on them.

A good example was Undeniable who I was tempted to back but thankfully didn't, he went off 10/11 favourite in a race on Saturday. He was in the rear the whole race, was getting reminders after a furlong, his jumping was awful, the jockey was hard at work the whole race on him, he basically didn't want to race. I've made notes to this effect so the next time he runs I won't make the mistake of backing him.

I've wrote a fair few notes on a good few horses. Tis a very handy feature.

I have not tried the 'my notes' part yet, but I like some of the new features.

The RTF% is quite handy (beside the trainer name)

This shows the percentage of the trainers horses that have run as expected (win or lose)

While one should still look back at the trainer form, it is a very handy quick guide.

Also, the number of days since the last run is now beside the horse name which is also a timesaver (especially when searching for horses that have won/done well in the past week or so)

nice site bit harder to navigate now but i think it is only a matter of time before the site becomes subscription based -

Yeah, the fact that it states: "My Racing Post is currently a free service" does not instill a lot of confidence.

They are obviously using My Racing Post as a pilot, if it proves popular it's only a matter of time before the start charging. Which I suppose is fair enough given the amount of information that is free on the site, it's always amazed me how they've never went subscription based with the whole site. I don't know many even half serious punters who could survive without it.

Is it just me or have they started charging 20p to watch old archive videos?

They were always going to charge for them jonesy...the videos were just a trial service.

Ahh gotcha. TBH if the racingpost site went subscription I would pay for it. If they do this it would be handy if you had a 1 day temp activation code with the racingpost paper, so you could use the site for that day.

    Ignore me, I'm just rambling!

The only time I use the attheraces site is to enter their competitions.

I'd have to agree with jonsey here...

I would be absolutely lost without the RP site, and I would pay to use it. I am amazed that it still free to be honest.

Me too. The RP site is a fantastic resource and I'll pay a subscription for it when it goes that way (but not too much, in case any RP staff read this). The race videos have been charged at 20p for the last two months or so.

I really only use the attheraces site for their archive of videos.
