Can you make DVD's with Flash?

not directly AFAIK. Flash annimations (.swfs) can be used as menu componants of a DVD, but you would need a DVD authoring tool to convert them.

There may be (i'd be willing to bet) some external programs that let you author a DVD using flash...but I dont know of any of hand.

    EDIT : found one : http://www.allformp3.com/swf-to-video-converter/

Of course you can convert flash animations to AVI or Quicktime or whatever to be included as DVD content....

If you're looking to put them on DVD, I can recommend DVD-Lab

Although I havent used it for slideshow / image DVD's, the authoring of menus, soundtracks to movies etc is excellent

I've used ProShow gold myself, very easy to use. 2 drawbacks for web use is that it makes you download an exe file, and the filesize is HUGE compared to what you'd get out of Flash.

i've used pro show and it's very good, if i remember correct you can make different formats like a html show and one for emailing and as pointed out a standalone executable etc.
theres a time limited demo available or at least there used to be i think

They've made a few updates since I used it last - looks like it does just about everytying, including DVD's

Take your photos further! ProShow Gold gives you more output options than any other slide show software. Create DVDs and video CDs that play back on your TV. Stream your show on the Web. Generate MPEG video files for PC viewing. Build screen savers for yourself or others. Make self-contained executable slide shows (EXEs), perfect for e-mailing or posting online. Write PC autorun CDs that automatically play when inserted into a PC. ProShow Gold does it all!

ProShow Gold is great alright, it is a bit overwhelming in the amount of options that it gives you though. It's something that you'll have to spend time on to get the best out of, but once you do it's well worth it.
You can even output as a .exe, which is well handy.

Whats the difference between Pro Show Gold and Producer??

Yep. I reckin a good ProShow job is better than an album or a video. I did one for a nieces wedding, blew them away. Did one for friends of their 10 month old girl. You should have seen the tears. Awwww!

The automated (random) setting for transitions and movement is the best way to go and just adjust the ones that need to be.

i looked at both ProShow Gold and Picasa --
and in the end i used Picasa (basic slideshow) , but it does not give you many options, and pretty much you can only select mp3 files, that will accompany your slideshow !
So if you want it professional as the others say , Proshop is the way to go .

    Thanks everyone.

Looks like I will be getting a copy of the ProShow.

    Cheers

if you use Windows Xp there is the plus pack, which amongst other goodies contains an app called Photostory 3 which does exactly what you're asking for. It even saves the slideshows as either avi/mpeg so it can be put on DVD

I've been playing with Lightroom, which has a great slideshow utility that includes an option to use an iTunes playlist.

I tried that a while back but it seems that Lightroom allows you to use only one song. Maybe I am mistaken but I couldnt add more than one especially when the number of pics I was using.

I'll have a look at the Windows version when I get home, but the OS X version lets you pick a full playlist.

I use proshow for customer displays and it is excellent, great features and a good way for people to look at a lot of pictures on the tv.
