I have the same symptoms of a Trojan Virus that a previous poster had and I have tried the suggestions that you guys mentioned to no avail. What is formatting the hard drive? And can I do it and start over with my PC? Thanks.

Formatting the drive is basically wiping the whole thing..... it will obviously delete everything on the drive ( including your own files ), so u would want to back up what u need.
Seems a bit extreme to do this .... did u try to clean virus ?

What anti-virus software are you using?

Jaysis formatting to get rid of a virus is like dropping a nuclear bomb to kill a few ants....

No, it's like burning the house down IF the termites have destroyed the structure beyond economical repair :)

My computer had already got Kaspersky Anti-Virus on it and I always have kept it up to date, when I scanned the drive fully, it said that it could not scan some infected files or do anything about them. At the end of the scan, it said that the scan was complete but not fully finished, I left it like that for hours but nothing else happened. I tried Ad-Aware and it told me that there was 51 infected files but that it couldn't clean them all. What I have now is pop-ups and a small yellow warning sign near to the clock in the bottom right hand corner. Sometimes Kaspersky is showing a message of a Trojan attack and it recommends that I delete it but when I press ok, it can't do it.
