Well the old Dell e773p is on the way out at last, I have my TFT(dual display atm) alongside it I can use as a back up if it finally goes, but I'd like to stick with CRT for normal everyday use. It's calibrated just nice and my photobox prints have come out pretty much like they are on screen.
Thing is I'd like to replace like with like and get another e773p but as far as I can see there are only two CRT monitors on the Dell site and it looks like I'll eventually have to go LCD.

Should I go now or stick with a CRT? Anyone got any recommendations for a non Dell CRT or LCD?

Main use will be photo stuff and internet carry on, maybe the very odd game, depending on my current state of addiction.
    Cheers all.

**EDIT** If this belongs in the Computers/Technology forum please feel free to move.

From a completely non expert point of view........ I have a nice Philips 19" CRT here at home and a cheapish Acer 19" at work. I recently got the Spyder2 express to calibrate the Philips and did the one at work while I was at it.

I would always have thought that the CRT would be the best choice for dowl photography but I have to say the LCD is just lovely. It shows more shadow detail and the colours are nice and rich. I would (am) seriously consider(ing) changing to a 20" widescreen LCD but I would read a few reviews before doing so. Maybe I was just lucky with the Acer but in every way I find it better and also considerably less tiring on the eyes. The Philips is a very good quality (I mean expensive) job and got great reviews so I am not comparing crap.

The reason I would go with 20" is that the 21" screens are miles more expensive for some reason.

2005FPW and 2007FPW are quite nice LCDs (same tube as with apple cinema). I used Pantone Huey on them and quite happy with the result ;)

So it looks like LCD is the way.
I'd prefer to stick to CRT, but I guess the future catches up with us all eventually.
    Thanks for the replies guys.

There are nothing wrong with LCD, if you're not doing real pro DTP work (for which you'd need pro level LCD). Colors and color range is nice. It's a bit too bright, but pantone usually correct it.

Just noticed the 2007FPW Dell has 20% off. €486 incl delivery! Sounds good (and tempting).
