    Just a quick note guys.

Our black cat went missing yesterday and we are very worried about him. He is a big 2 year old cat. He is very friendly and probabely lost in Charlesland somewhere. Unfortunatley he is not used to the outdoors and may be disorientated.

He has a green collar on him with a medal on it showing numbers to ring.

Please if anyone has seen him can they contact us.

    Thank you for your time.

There was a black cat hanging around the cafe at superquinn yesterday afternoon not much help to you but thought I would let you know didn't take a very close look so don't know about the collar. Hope you find him soon!

That's terrible, I really hope you find him soon

Post a lost ad on these websites - they seem to be checked regularly.

    www.petsireland.invisionzone.ie
    www.lostandfound.ie
www.ispca.ie - this website also has a section on what to do if you've lost your cat - http://www.ispca.ie/content/lost-whattodocat.htm

Ring all the local vets too - he may have been brought in or somebody may have found him and left details there. Good luck!

Yep, I saw him at the cafe on Friday. In fact, he even came over for a little cuddle. Lovely cat. If it's the same one, he has an 087 number on the collar?

There's every chance he's skulking around the yard at the back of Superquinn, so it might be no harm to ask if they've seen him.

Cats know where home is, so hopefully he'll be home soon enough.

I'll keep an eye out and if I see him again, we'll take him in and make contact.

Thanks a million for your replies so far.

I think that there is another black cat in Charlesland also with a green collar in fact which isn't our fella. This cat is younger than ours and I suppose the only way to distinguish between the two is that our cat has a little gold medal hanging from his collar.

I also spotted the black cat outside the cafe but he is not our one.
Thanks for your help though, we really appreciate it!

    Hi,

I also saw a black cat hanging around the carpark outside superquinn last night. I didn't get a close look so can't give you any much info. There were a few passers by giving it some pets. Hope you find it. Putting up posters and a notice in superquinn will probably help.

We recently lost our kitten and found her in the development site behind Charlesland Pk. She had jumped the wall and couldn't get back up because the height was much higher on the other side. The vet in greystones gave us a cat trap which we put down and caught her. I'm not sure if you're living in Charlesland Park or Grove but it might be worth taking a look in there incase your cat is there too.

I saw your cat today playing on the road closed sign at the bottom of the central green area. Sounds like its been hanging round that general area.

My gf spotted a large black cat in Charlesland Wood this morning, it walked past our bedroom window. i.e on the small slopping roof.

does your cat have some white on him/her/ it.. ? saw one today at my front door trying to catch a robin ...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 53 ✭✭TnJ

    Thanks for all your replies.

No our cat has no white on him, he is totally black. He is a big cat and has big green eyes.

We have been searching through Charlesland the past few days to no avail. We also checked the boundary wall and surrounds.

If any of you spot him please try to take him in and call us. Just be careful though because there is another black cat with a green collar in Charlesland and I don't want him catnapped by mistake.

Our cat has a gold medal on his collar with Pet-trace written on it and it gives contact numbers to call. I think the other black cat has an 087 number on it.

Thanks so much for all of your help.

    P.S A reward is offered.

What did he get the medal for? Elusiveness? If you got close enuff to read the medal why didn't you just pick him up and bring him near a light source?. He's a cat, not a Gremlin.;)

It's 8:48 now...****...I might go out and have a gander. It sounds like some priceless **** is going down.

    Folks,
    Any chance of behaving yourselves?

Has anyone found the cat? Which I think is the purpose of this thread!

The cat, it seems, is still missing. I was behaving myself till BIG ISSUES got on my case.

I'm not in court till 11 AM tomorrow...I'll spin around and have a look for her myself.

    The cat that is.

Last sighting as reported. bear in mind it may not be the right cat. And no IT Loser. Resist the temptation to start forum on missing bears.

    Thanks for that.

I think that's the other black cat, that has the light strip on his green collar. Aplogises for getting specific but the green collar our fella has on is one shade of green and has a velvet texture.

    The search goes on!

Saw a black cat with a green collar with a medal on it in superquinn carpark. Actually on the tree stands doing a little curl around the top bar. Disappeared into the shrubbery before I could get to it. Looked sleek and well.

Thanks a mill for your help anyhow, we really appreciate it.
It looks like he's gone astray. We've been searching the roads & estates around Charlesland, and I get the impression that someone has taken him in. He's a 2 1/2 yr old large black cat, very affectionate. We had our previous cat for almost two years, and when we moved to Charlesland he was killed on the spine road after a few months. i'll be honest, we were pretty upset, and it was a hard choice to decide to get another. Our new guy, Paidí, was with us for only 2 months, until he decided to ramble. we were just starting to forget about Jess when he left.

I know some of you are reading this thinking... cat nut... psycho... to be honest I never liked cats until my arm was twisted and we got the first one. they're pretty affectionate creatures, often misunderstood, and i guess you grow to love them.

anyhow, enough of me rambling on. Thanks again for all your help and messages.

dont want to get hopes up but at 19.15 saw large black cat with green collar walking from houses opposite supperquinn into underground carpark. the collar was light green close to that in the superquinn logo green.

    hope it comes home,
    good luck

I really hope you find your cat. The only other thing I can suggest is that if this cat was living somewhere else before you got him, cats often find their way back to where they lived before. I know someone who moved house to quite a distance away and their cat found its way back to the area they used to live.

    Anyway best of luck.

There was a black cat hanging around outside our house in Charlesland Park last night. He was meowing away and looking for loads of affection. He didn't have a collar on but I was thinking he may have lost it. He was plain black, a little bit chubby and had a longish coat. I'm not sure if he's yours but I decided I better let you know just incase.

    Hi Perty,

That sounds like him. His collar wasn't that tightly on him so he could have lost it alright.

Please can you let us know if you see him again. We will post you our number.
    Thanks so much!

I have seen a very friendly cat a couple of times myself around Charlesland Park, he sounds the same as the one described by Perty only he has a bit of white on his paws and is actually wearing a dark coloured collar (both times I saw him it was night time so can't tell you exact colour). If he comes by again I will hold on to him - could you pm me your number just incase??

    Hi Dalila,

Thanks for that, Our cat has no white on him at all. He is totally black with big green eyes.

    Hi TnJ

I haven't seen your cat since but I will take a good look around this evening. Unfortunately my internet was down at home over the weekend so I couldn't see your reply. I'm so annoyed I didn't keep onto him now. Hopefully he'll be still around. At least I know what he looks like. I have your number so I'll give you a call if I see him again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,708 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Just wondering if you got your cat chipped? If he does turn up on someone's door and they can bring him to the vet so they can scan for the chip.

Last year, a black and white cat turned up on our friend's doorstep and he wasn't chipped so put up lost and found posters. We took him in, vaccinated him, chipped him and named him Dizzie Raschal. After a month of hanging around with the two cats we had already he disappeared! Little sh*t!

Anyway, I know what its like when they run off and I do hope he turns up soon.

    Thanks a mil Perty.

Yeah, Paidi is microchipped alright. We got him from the DSPCA last month and all the cats they re-home are micro-chipped. So, even if he has lost his collar if he ends up at a vet or an animal shelter we could be contacted immediatley.

We looked around Charlesland over the weekend but to no avail!

Thanks so much everyone for all of your kindness. It's nice to think that there are still good & decent people out there.

    Hi Everyone,

Great News, last night the Missing Black Cat Paidi came home! He has missing for over three weeks. But he is well and extremely happy to be home.

We got a phone call from a good samaritan in Charlesland Wood who found him meowing at her front door. It seems as if he just got lost and couldn't find his way back. So his travelling days are over for the near future.

Anyway, we just want to thank you all sincerely for your help and kindness in trying to locate him. Paidi says thanks too and is now thnking about writing a letter to Santa for Christmas.

Ahh I'm delighted. I've been kicking myself all week that I didn't take him in when I saw him. I've been on the look out ever since but there was no sign.
