MS Excel formula replication

I'm trying to replicate formula with a gap in between, but with no success.
    Example: Cell A1 = 100, Cell A2 = 200, Cell A3=300, cell A4=400.
    If I go to cell C1 and enter = A1, I get 100 - fine!
If I need a gap in column C between the numbers, I leave C2 blank and then in C3 I enter "=a2" ie. 200.
However when I try to replicate this down column C, (to give me 100 gap 200 gap 300 gap 400 etc) it skips the 300.
    Any help appreciated.

what you should do is enter the data in column A enter your formula in cell C1 and leave C2 blank then Hightlight cell C1 & C2 and then drag this down to the end of your data.

You need to copy the formula in cell C1 AND the space in cell C2.

Afraid not - spreadsheets got about 30 sheets in it and some of the info in confidential!
What i could do is do up an example and post it.

    Tanx XJR, will try that.
I basically set up a template receipt on worksheet 2 (one receipt per page) which I was going to replicate down and then simply print out.
The info - name address and amounts are all on sheet 1. Therefore, for example I might need the first name (say sheet1 a1 transfered to sheet2 a5, but the second receipt name sheet2 a57 needs the info from sheet1 a2 (if u know what i mean!)).
However as u see from the sample, my idea of simply replicating the first 2 receipts down Sheet2 proved difficult and now I am copying 1 down and filling in the info manually (time consuming:mad: ).
