No webstreams for DrDish but I have it recorded. I'll be able to post an mpeg file next week if Watty hasn't obliged in the meantime.

    Great stuff.

Pity DrDish doesn't utilise the likes of YouTube.

I'm in Dundalk and my recording is in Limerick.
Earliest I can do it is next week or weekend.

I suppose any of us with a recording could piut it on You Tube if Dr Dish didn't object :)

Well, it costs nothing to host video on YouTube, afaik. It would benefit DrDish in that it spreads the word, and costs them nothing on hosting.

The file is mpeg2 - I didn't do any sort of conversion because I didn't want to mess up the picture quality. I tested it before uploading with WinDVD and it played OK.

If you still have problems try downloading a copy of ProgDVB or Elecard player and playing it back through that - might be something to do with elecard/moonlight codec which I use with the DVB-S software.

    Thanks for the links Zaphod.

As for the video, maybe it'll play right in VLC Player, it seems to play nearly anything!

well a little difficult to be honest on the basic stuff like lining up astra 2 but could be i'm just so used to the previous MC577 and I believe the latest firmware update helps this, I cant try it yet as there was no lead included which i think should have been the case on a unit costing this much.

Null modem lead with wiring described here http://home.promax.es/ftp/Acrobats/English/PkUpdate-Manual.pdf at the end

I thought all null modem cables were wired the same.

Maybe Donberg Electronics could help. I got a null modem cable from them before for updating my satellite receiver. Cost under €5 iirc, though postage is €4.50 I think.

All "real" Null modem cables are the same.

But if one end does not support full HW handshake (Of which there are two sets of pins for two modes) then you need a Data Only Cross over cable with loop back handshakes. But that is *NOT* a null modem cable.

I've ordered one off ebay. Really though if you are paying over 2 grand for something lead should really be included .

Ah grand so, and yes, for such a cheap accessory, it should have been included. Maybe they didn't want to encourage people flashing their meters, but still, supplying it wouldn't have cost much.
