    How can you hack Excel to give you a drop down list (data validation) across the entire woorbook instead of the default which is just on each sheet?

    i.e.
    I need to have the same list of drop downs available on all the worksheets but just want to have the list on the first sheet.
    As defualt i need to copy the list to each sheet and setup the data validation on each cell.

    Is there a way around this?

    It would appear you can't do this. I tried:
    - create list on sheet1
    - go to sheet2 and select all
    - data->validation
    - allow list
    - source, enter "=sheet1!a1:a3"
    I get an error dialog:
    "You may not use references to other worksheets or workbooks for Data Validation criteria."
