There's been a few threads about pkr in the last year, a quick search will find them.

Yeah tried the beta, even supported them here but the interface is built to annoy in the long term allright. I never went back but there could well be plenty of fish there which would be one selling point.

Just to elaborate on this I think the gist of it was that pkr.com was designed by computer gamer types - slick graphics 'n all that but it overlooked what a lot of poker players actually wanted, the ability to multi-table i gathered was difficult if not impossible and the games were painfully slow and heavy on bandwidth - correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I seem to rem been mentioned in those threads - as a result I decided to give da site a miss.

the app is a memory hog if I recall correctly, pretty much every other thing I had running had to be shut down.

That said I was using a 512mb Ram 1.6ghz celeron Laptop, not your top end by any means

IT looks and runs great on my XPS 2, but can be painful to play. I'd imagine there is a lot of dead money on the site though.

    GOOD:
The software is amazing! You can tweak all the options to disable the annoying stuff. Though to my experience its just the odd user being annoying and you can block them seperately. I never deposited money in my account and through freerolls and cent tables I am up to $20 already. BTW; Ever tried first person's view? Just one word: WOW! They did a fantastic job, and then 'extras' like suits during Hallowe'en etc. etc.

    BAD:
    1) The software is quite intensive. You cannot run much at the same time unless you have a very powerfull computer.
    2) I signed up to be an affiliate since I'm running two Internet cafés and I've signed up a lot of people to a lot of sites that way. A) My own account doesn't get rakeback...WTF?!? B) Every signup has to be from an unique IP address. Since we have a static IP address here this means that none of my singups would "work". Therefore, its bloody useless to me.

I wrote a bit about it here already so amn't arsed repeating it.

I wouldn't deposit my own cash to it tbh, though they've a 100% to $500 bonus with the complete lack of traffic it'd take months to clear it.

Great review, and what prose ....

"The software itself, it looks good alright and is a laugh to play for a while, but it soon gets boring and just ends up p*ssing you off."

    :D

It's remarkable how rapidly the "future of online poker" became history, it's a white elephant in my opinion and an almost certain expensive flop.

downloaded it,, played it, won a STT, deleted it.

Spotted this thread so I thought I'd try to give PKR's point of view.

I appreciate that this forum is made up of some serious and succesful poker players and as such PKR may not appeal to all of you.

Our intention is to help grow the poker market rather than just bring out another skin exactly the same as every other site.
The worldwide number of live poker players is huge and current estimates suggest only 5% of these players actually play online.

Poker sites have taken away the body language, the moods, the tells. Much of the goading and chat has gone too. In fact they simplified it so much that nearly every nuance of the game that can make it so interesting has been taken away. You are just left with the cards.

We have tried to use videogame technology to improve the sociability and personality within the game - to make it more fun and more strategic. You give off tells by looking at your cards, you can act strong whilst weak by interacting with other players and you can choose to show one or both of your cards when you win pots.

The resources that PKR uses are no different to other video games you can play on your PC, but with our regular upgrades the game is becoming much less demanding upon your computer and this will continue. We also have a low spec option that is a lot less intensive.

I understand what has been said about the number of players but bear in mind tha PKR has only been live for just over 2 months and we already have 50,000 registered users. We started a major 1.5m marketing push 2 weeks ago too, the results of which are already showing in the increased registrations we are obtaining.

I understand that a lot of you do very well at the sites that you play on and you don't see the need for what we have done. I guess at the end of the day you can't please all the people all the time, but I like to think we have brought something new to the table.

    Sorry for the long post!
    Cheers,
    Andy(PKR)
