    Real Christmas Tree
    Fake Christmas Tree
    Dont Care
    Atari Jaguar Tree

Personnally I perfer a real tree, and I'm guessing that will be the most common opinion, though I can see that a fake tree can be the only choice in some cases (difficult to get or find room for a real one.).
    How you feel about it?

yeah...for a second there it was looking really messy?

Though gonna have to dig up my opinion from the other one.

My opinion: I perfer real, the smell adds alot to my memories of christmas, I find the plastic ones ugly and not very impressive, though I can understand that in some situations one might opt for the fake not out of choice but necessity.

Selecting the real option on the poll makes you a better person. It's almost a fact.

I like a fake one. They make very good ones these days and it works out much cheaper in the long run.

A real one would end up lying in the back garden for months after Christmas.

I like a real one. We got them as kids but now we have a fake one. I prefer it overall because its easier overall to just throw it in the attic until next year.

A real one is nice to get the smell of christmas in the home, however cleaning up after it is a complete biatch, so I go for fake

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,228 ✭✭✭bluto63

Definetly a real one. The smell is what I need to make Christmas complete. Without that smell it just isn't Christmas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

i never understood how people could put up with fake trees. Real all the way baby.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,175 ✭✭✭angeldelight

Has to be a real tree for me, I just love the smell when you walk into the room! Every year my dad tries to buy a fake tree but I use the excuse that "it's my birthday and I really want a fake tree... you'll ruin my birthday". Seems to have worked so far anyway :o

It's also a tradition at this stage that I say I'll hoover up all the needles but never *quite* get round to doing it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,458 ✭✭✭CathyMoran

Fake tree, one of my relatives was allergic to the real tree so I grew up with a fake tree...plus there is less mess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,589 ✭✭✭Hail 2 Da Chimp

Fake as the real are pretty messy bastards as stated above, although you cant beat the smell of a real one...

Also as kids on we used to collect everyones old xmas trees and make giant forts out of them :D

Or we could combine the two - real or fake breasts beside a real or fake Christmas tree.

    Ahem, or maybe not.

Faker baker all the way and mainly for economic reasons (pays for itself in 3 years) but there's also the aesthetic - I was never happy with the real trees I got and I'd be endlessy pushing branches up and down to achieve a pleasing symmetry. As for the smell - thats what the old airwick is for - just strategically place a few of those pine fresh jacks blocks around the living room.

    It's all about the smell..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,634 ✭✭✭Kolodny

Has to be real. The smell and the vacuuming up bits of tree for months afterwards is all part of Christmas for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,258 ✭✭✭✭Rabies

First of all, stay on topic before K throws this to the nest ;)

My preference is a real tree. Can't beat the smell it gives off over the christmas period. The only problem is getting the needles out of the carpet.

    Interesting.
If lights are attached will they become a fire hazard?

    Real one all the way.

We grew up with a fake tree but got the parents to get a real one a couple of years ago as my sister and I had grown taller than it. It just isn't the same when you can look down at the Christmas tree. Also, the smell is gorgeous. :)

    A.

Fake, you can plug it in so it lights up and you don't have to bother with all those poxy decorations. Plus if you buy one in January (real cheap on the sales) you save a fortune, not to mention saving all those poor trees </tree-hugging-hippy-mode>.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

    Definately real.

    Only wood will suffice :D
Maybe a small plastic yoke in the window

Got to be real, the smell is good, for some reason ;) Bit of hastle to clean up after though.

I like a real one, but I'm allergic to something about them.
I'm the one who removes the decorations and chucks it to the curb on Valentines Day and it always leaves me with a rash on my arms.

But I love the smell and I love going on the hunt for the perfect tree.

The great thing about the real ones is the smell, but fake ones are just so much more convienient, and less hassle as regards cleaning etc.

I grew up with fake ones so as long as they're a decent size and look good I don't mind. I have a little wooden one with candles from Habitat these days - oohhh fire!

I like a real tree for Christmas, but don't like killing one for just a couple of weeks a year. So I buy a little one in a pot, then replant it after Christmas. When I leave living in flats someday, I plan to have one in my yard I can decorate each year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,095 ✭✭✭✭looksee

Real for years, love real trees, even fetching it and persuading it to stand up in a box - tree stands are for wimps - and love the smell. Then....one year put it out in the back garden and decided to get rid of it by making a bonfire out of it. One match to a branch and whoosh it was gone, took my eyebrows too. Went right off real trees. Now have a nice imitation one from Dunnes.

I voted for "Atari Jaguar" because, quite frankly, I'd rather have that in my house than some large, functionless, green mess. Not putting up decorations of any kind means not having to take them down and sweep up the crap that falls off.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,485 ✭✭✭✭Ickle Magoo

Fake - saves sweeping needles up, is safer, you can buy Christmas smells by the bucketful anyway & it helps to reduce the need for those ugly sitca spruce plantations - so fake everytime! :)
